The SARA High Power Electromagnetics Division (HPEM) is looking for a remarkably talented, motivated, and dedicated Machine Shop Quality Inspector to support production activities and transition innovative technologies and products to the DoD, DoE, and their contractors, from our Colorado Springs, CO location. The candidate will have the opportunity to work closely with Project Managers, Manufacturing and Design Engineers, Inventory Control Specialists, Fabrication Technicians, Machinists, Welders, and external vendors to ensure our quality standards are met and exceeded.

The Machine Shop Quality Inspector will be responsible for leading Quality Inspection, Quality Analytics, implementing quality documentation (AQL, FAI/LAI), and assist in compliance to our ISO9001/AS9100 certifications.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Participate in ISO 9001 Audits
  • Assists in the writing, release and training of Quality Inspection focused instructions and workflow
  • Complete quality inspection documentation, in advance of a product going into production, and support Design & Development Engineering
  • Quality inspection
  • CMM Programming and maintenance of equipment
  • Quality Inspector personnel training and mentorship
  • Gathers quality related data and information that can be used to assess process improvements

Requirements:

  • Strong organization skills and high attention to detail
  • Firm understanding of GD&T and interpretation of design intent
  • Strong proficiency in hand measurement tools and optical comparators
  • Knowledge of root cause analysis methodologies and demonstrated experience in the development and evaluation of effective preventative/corrective action plan
  • Certified Quality Inspector (CQI) through the American Society of Quality (ASQ)
  • CMM Programming experience
  • Strong proficiency using MS Office suite including Outlook, Work, Excel, and Power Point
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • US Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain DoD security clearance
  • May require moderate physical effort, involving standing (potentially all day), sitting and use of hands while performing duties, carrying or lifting up to 50 pounds
  • Working environment is indoor, moderately loud, reasonably clean, well-lighted and well-ventilated, physical hazards may exist

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Cp and CpK, Statistical Process Control (SPC) and other Quality Improvement processes
  • Certifications as a Six Sigma Green Belt through ASQ or other certified organization
  • Experience with Optical Comparator software’s M2 and M3
  • Experience with Hexagon PC-DMIS 2023 or newer
  • Aerospace and/or Defense industry experience
  • Military veteran
  • Active DoD Security Clearance

Pay Range

Salary at SARA is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $25 to $35 (hourly USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of SARA’s total compensation package for employees. Positions are on-site, unless indicated otherwise.
