Job Summary
Working under general supervision from lab members, executes protocols involving a variety of routine and non-routine experiments at a professional level. Troubleshoots and implements modifications on existing techniques, as appropriate. May suggest alternate technical routes and suggest options based upon research in the literature. Calculates, transcribes, and analyzes data using proper techniques. This is a great opportunity for a student who is looking for research experience.


PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


Maintain (breed) and genotype (PCR) transgenic mice.
Euthanize/perfuse mice, extract organs, conduct protein extractions, histological sections and assist in microscopical imaging.
Assist or perform mouse therapeutical treatments and behavioral studies (motor/cognition).
Order or maintain reagents and supplies and prepare needed reagents for all procedures.
Perform different surgical techniques such as Controlled Cortical Impact (CCI) and intra cerebral hemorrhage (ICH) under CCM guidelines.
Discusses progress of work regularly with supervisor.



Qualifications


QUALIFICATIONS:


  • B.Sc. in life sciences required.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, excellent oral and written communication, comfortable talking on the phone





SKILLS / ABILITIES / COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:


  • Ability to work well independently.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills to be able to interact with a variety of people and on the telephone.

  • Strong team player and can communicate well within an interdisciplinary team.

  • High level of organizational skills with strong attention to detail.

  • Ability to follow directions and protocol requirements.

  • Normal laboratory environment.

  • May be exposed, under controlled conditions, to hazardous materials.
