Job Summary
GENERAL SUMMARY: Working under supervision, the Laboratory Assistant will work with a team of researchers and technical staff to assist with the performance of experiments, neuronal data processing and coding. Will also assist with primary analysis of the neuronal and behavioral results. Skills will be gained in study design, analytic skills and programming. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Assist with experiments where needed under supervision of postdoctoral fellow/faculty, or other senior laboratory personnel. - Ability to learn hands-on designof experiments. - Learn and apply knowledge of neuroscience. - Learn how to perform literature search and understanding of task design. Contribute to data processing and analyses. - Performs data entry and can learn data processing, script organization and updates. - Will assist with analysis of the neuronal and behavioral results and learn this process with supervision from the PI. Participate in general lab activities, including upkeep of work area. Attend lab meetings and presentations; may present work as member of a team to the lab community. Perform other duties as assigned.



Qualifications


EDUCATION Some college courses in one or more scientific disciplines helpful. EXPERIENCE: Some experience gained through scientific college coursework will be helpful. SKILLS/ ABILITIES/ COMPETENCIES REQUIRED: • Basic understanding of laboratory research, and protocols along with the ability to work within a laboratory setting. • Able to follow instructions and experimental protocols and to work effectively with others. • Able to understand and learn basic analytic and statistical skills. • Matlab or Python coding skills are preferred. FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY: Prudent use of laboratory resources WORKING CONDITIONS: Research laboratory setting with primary computer and coding environment. Work will be performed during weekdays/daytime hours and under supervision. May join neuronal recording studies under supervision of postdoctoral fellow or faculty.
