Job Summary
Equipment rounds: Perform rounds, retrieve tagged/ broken equipment from patient care areas and report findings to team leader or designee. Pick-up and deliver equipment between Biomed shops and clinical departments. May also retrieve/deliver parts and supplies. Ensures the medical device support, PMS, repairs follow documented manufacturer service requirements.
• Routine maintenance support activities: Inspect Biomed network closets and ensure equipment components such as filters, cables and batteries are in good condition, and inspection labels are updated. Report any abnormality or deviation to resource technician or team leader. Assist with triage activities for equipment brought to shops for service, including generating a work orders, checking devices for physical damage or common problems and noting on work order and placing triaged equipment in the designated location for next level of service. Develop and maintain documentation on all equipment and engineering processes, failures, investigation and other reference materials within areas of responsibility. Ensure that documentation is up-to-date, concise and comprehensive. Ensure that employees maintain proper documentation standards.
• High volume equipment project assistance: Assist biomedical technicians and clinical engineers in infusion pump related projects such as recall response or drug library updates and related activities as needed. Assist in high volume incoming inspections as needed to include working under direction to check settings on devices, update of Drug Library if needed and prepare devices for inspection, Mentors team members for career growth and retention using a documented plan. Provides regular feedback on performance, growth, and development, including completion of performance evaluations and corrective actions of team members when necessary.
• Equipment clock updates: Perform clock updates on devices requiring manual time adjustment to accommodate time changes due to Daylight Savings Time
• Routine defibrillator testing: Perform daily/ weekly defibrillator/AED testing. Respond to basic support requests on devices including resolve routine issues on defibrillator.
• Inventory & visual inspection: Take inventory of medical equipment, visually inspect equipment for physical damage, apply appropriate labels as needed, identify/track missing devices and update CMMS database as to device status.
• Real Time Location System support activities: Assist team in support of department asset location tracking system performing activities such as applying and activating RTLS asset tags to equipment and associating tag to device, changing batteries on tags and system hardware components. Update asset records in database to reflect tag assignments and battery changes. It'd be helpful to spell this out.
• Vendor service support activities: At the direction of team leader, retrieve, scan and upload vendor service reports to device work orders and contact vendors to request any outstanding reports.
• Basic technical support activities: Assist with general team support or other activities as directed by supervisor.
Qualifications
• Minimum High School diploma, GED or equivalent.
• Preferred some college or non-technical Associates degree.
• Familiarity with patientcare-based technologies.
• Experience in training and evaluation methods. Potential to remove to expand group.
