Job Summary
The ED Observation Manager has Twenty-four-hour accountability and responsibility for clinical and administrative operations of one or more patient care departments. The ED Nurse Manager's focus is the direction and development of the Emergency Department through standards and appropriate participative supervisory methods and the maintenance of an efficiently running Emergency Department. The overall NSMC goal of the perfect patient experience is achieved through the development of annual unit goals, role modeling and staff development. This person works closely with the ED Leadership Team, The Chair of Emergency Medicine and the Senior Vice President of Clinical Operations in the creative resolution of issues, development of standards, strategic planning and performance improvement activities. He/she oversees the professional practice of nurses via a matrix reporting to the CNO, Senior Vice President, Division of Patient Care Services. The ED Nurse Manager report directly to the NSMC ED Nurse Director.



Qualifications


Required : To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily and be able to demonstrate any knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients serviced on his/her assigned unit.



Experience:


Required : Minimum of 3-5 years experience in an acute care hospital. Clinical background in appropriate areas of practice. Managerial and leadership experience is required. Other requirements will de pend on type of unit and/or current needs of the unit.



Education/Degree Requirements:


Required : BSN required


Preferred : Masters Degree preferred with MSN, MBA or other health related



Licensure, Certifications, or Registration:


Required : Current RN licensure in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts


Preferred : BLS, PALS, ACLS
