Location: Portland, Oregon
Provides analytical consultation and direction to all levels of staff regarding post-award and departmental research activity. Completes analysis/projections, provides suggestions for resolving surplus or deficit funding, responds to requests for information and meets regularly with PI’s, study coordinators, and administration to review this information. Maintaining accurate projections for complex funding arrangements is required to complete all of these tasks.
Performs Labor Distribution, facilitates effort certification process, calculates and tracks NIH and departmental cost sharing.
Monitors incoming and outgoing sub-awards. Ensures spending is on-track with budget, invoices and payments are timely, and assists with close-out at end of budget period.
Tracks departmental bridge funding needs and notifies administration of potential gaps well in advance. Monitors existing bridge funding with spreadsheets.
Tracks departmental research performance metrics and performs ad-hoc analysis. Regularly presents data to department leadership.
Responsible for all other post-award needs, including but not limited to surplus balance transfers, cost transfers, resolution of unallowable activity.
Bachelor’s degree AND Five years of grants/contracts administration experience or five years of post award financial analysis experience, OR Seven years of grants/contracts administration experience or seven years of post award financial analysis experience, OR Certification from the Society of Research Administrators (CRA) AND five years of grant and contracts administration experience.
-Intermediate level skills with MS Office Suite including Word and Access and experience with advanced Excel functions.
-Must possess mathematical skills and financial experience required for preparation of financial reports and understanding of expenditures and intermediate database skills, including data entry, queries, reports, spreadsheets, etc.
-Must demonstrate ability to use sophisticated conceptual, numerical, and analytical skills to solve complex and unique financial problems.
-Must possess strong communication skills both verbal and written with good command of oral and written English, including grammar and spelling.
-Must be detailed oriented.
-Must possess strong organizational skills, be flexible, and creative.
-Must have exceptional customer service skills both on the phone and in person and have experience serving diverse populations.
-Must have ability to work in a team environment, as well as ability to work independently.
-Must be proficient and professional in all aspects of office procedures.
-Must have ability to set and prioritize obtainable goals, be self-directed and work efficiently under pressure of multiple deadlines for multiple investigators.
-Demonstrable record of reliable attendance, punctuality and proven successful performance at past and present employers.
Five years previous accounting experience preferred. Two years of OHSU GL and OGA accounting/financial analysis experience and experience in a budgetary support role for management is desirable.
