Security Officer:
Alternate Perspectives, Incorporated (API) has an immediate opening for a Security Officer. As a Security Officer you will be responsible for maintaining a safe and secure living, learning, and working environment; performing guard and patrol duties in assigned areas to protect life and property against theft, misappropriation, fire, flood, or similar disaster; and transporting students on an as-needed basis using GSA Fleet vehicles.
Some Additional Essential Functions:
Ensure the physical security of buildings and property by checking doors, windows, lights, electrical appliances, equipment, locks, and emergency equipment; maintain a log of findings and corrective action taken as required.
Perform various administrative functions and tasks such as entering and maintaining daily logs, preparing incident reports, and conducting investigations as directed; answering phones and welcoming staff, students, and visitors/guests to the Center.
Assure accountability (protocol) of student check-in and out (to and from center grounds) by conducting sign-in/out procedures according to API guidelines and directives.
Perform parking and traffic control duties; check identification of personnel and students seeking entrance to or exit from grounds and permit or deny entrance or exit according to established policies and procedures.
Perform routine vehicle equipment inspections, including lights, brakes, mirrors, steering, and other required operating equipment; document findings as required and recommend mechanical repairs as needed.
It is expected that the incumbent shall perform other duties as assigned within his/her capabilities as determined by management. Education and Experience Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent and one-year related experience. Experience with youth, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and computer proficiency are required. Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record. A valid commercial driver's license (CDL) is preferred and given special consideration.
