About the Position:
Purchases materials, supplies, and services at the most favorable terms for the organization. Qualifies vendors, evaluates bids, and negotiates prices and terms for purchased goods and services. Tracks purchases, monitors vendor quality and maintains a current database of vendor information.
Career Level – Senior Buyer: Work is generally independent and collaborative in nature. Manages complex supply chain and cross-functional projects. Typically requires 10 years of purchasing experience in a buyer role and a bachelor's degree or equivalent. Reports to a manager.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Work closely with CRL vendors to ensure on-time deliveries, consistent quality, an uninterrupted supply chain, and best pricing.
Handle correspondence concerning under/over-shipments, delivery shortages, changes in quantity, delivery dates, or prices and report such changes to the internal stakeholders promptly.
Act as a liaison between suppliers and internal stakeholders to resolve any/all procurement-related challenges.
Implement procurement strategy to ensure continuity of supply and alternative sources of supply.
Create supplier forecasts and supply plans for assigned suppliers.
Analyze spend for vendors and service providers to define portfolio strategy.
Lead quality improvement program for vendors and service providers.
Analyze inventory and payment terms' financial impact on CRL.
Deliver price-saving projects as defined by the procurement manager.
Lead supplier development program as assigned by the procurement manager.
Ensure the Supplier's lead-time, EOQ, and other related data are up to date in the system.
Skills, Knowledge, and Ability Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration, Finance, Data Analytics, or other relevant fields required.
Minimum 12 years of experience in supply chain out of which at least 10 years in procurement of direct materials and managing suppliers in high volume and high SKU count environment.
Previous experience is required in purchasing and understanding metal fabrication processes.
High level of proficiency in suppliers’ negotiations including standard purchase orders, blanket orders, VMI, Consignments, KANBAN, and lean is required.
Expert-level knowledge and experience in working with large-scale data to create supply plans and forecasts for assigned suppliers.
Excellent EXCEL proficiency including formulas is required for this role.
Power BI and any other analytical tool experience is required.
CPIM/CSCP or equivalent is preferred.
ERP experience is a must in systems such as Tandem, Epicor & SAP.

Safety
This position is largely sedentary; however, caution needs to be taken when lifting files, and boxes, and opening file cabinet drawers, and desk drawers.
To avoid injuries to hands, back, and neck, proper ergonomics should be maintained while working at a desk/workstation.
Work Environment
Primarily works in an office environment with a controlled climate.
Ability to perform light-hand activity work at a computer/telephone station in an office environment. Position is primarily sedentary.
Some duties may involve being in a plant environment where noise levels can be moderate to high and be subject to the same general climate conditions of the region (heat, cold, humidity, etc.).
Chemicals, dust, pollen, and other typical airborne particulate matter are present within the atmosphere of the production floor and may create some odors in the plant. The Company, in an effort to provide its employees with a safe and healthy working environment, limits exposure to chemicals through written procedures, engineering controls, and PPE.
While the chemical exposure and odors are under acceptable levels set by OSHA and the WCB, they nevertheless, can be smelled and are handled according to the company’s hazardous communication program.
