Salary: $100,000.00 USD Annually - $115,000.00 USD Annually

Description: Our manufacturing client is currently seeking a Maintenance Manager for their facility near Wilkes-Barre PA. The Maintenance Manager reports directly to the Plant Manager and is responsible for designing, implementing, and overseeing daily maintenance activities within the Maintenance Department. This role focuses on resolving issues with production machinery within the manufacturing process. The Maintenance Manager has full responsibility for the electrical and mechanical servicing and efficient maintenance of production machines, equipment, and the physical plant, ensuring compliance with State, Federal, and company policies, procedures, and certifications. This position involves setting up new equipment, ensuring its proper operation, and training others on its use. Additionally, the Maintenance Manager is responsible for preventive maintenance and repairs on buildings and grounds.


This job will have the following responsibilities:



  • Develops and manages a preventative maintenance schedule to ensure production machinery and equipment remain in optimal working condition.

  • Plans and maintains a continuous work schedule to ensure a safe and healthy environment on company property, promoting the best working conditions for all employees.

  • Supervises and coordinates the activities of workers involved in maintenance, electrical, and mechanical operations, providing training as needed.

  • Creates training programs and aids for troubleshooting.

  • Inspects ongoing and completed jobs to ensure standards of workmanship and safety are upheld.

  • Ensures proper maintenance of facility machinery and buildings.

  • Maintains inventory levels of maintenance materials, supplies, and repair parts.

  • Analyzes and costs all maintenance activities, interpreting mechanical and electrical specifications and operational manuals for subordinate staff to ensure proper maintenance and repair of plant equipment.

  • Recommends, plans, and implements equipment needs to enhance production efficiency and reduce costs.

  • Oversees staffing, training, discipline, and termination recommendations for Maintenance Department personnel.

  • Stays updated on new manufacturing technology and equipment, investigating their potential applications.

  • Advises the Plant Manager on the incorporation of new technology where feasible and practical.

  • Develops effective and efficient preventative maintenance programs, planning for future plant growth and expansion.

  • Meets with vendors to negotiate service agreements and support.

  • Interviews and hires personnel for the department.

  • Recommends pay increases or promotions based on employee performance and job knowledge.

  • Conducts performance appraisals.

  • Counsels employees on work performance, attendance, safety, or other issues as needed.

  • Holds employee meetings to communicate goals, company policies/rules, and safety information.

  • Maintains positive employee/employer relationships and attends other required meetings.

  • Ensures adherence to and execution of Environmental Health & Safety programs to provide a safe and clean workplace, complying with local, state, and federal regulations.
Qualifications & Requirements:


  • 3-5 years of experience as a maintenance manager consecutively with the same plant

  • Must have a technical degree or a minimum of five years of experience in maintenance management in an industrial manufacturing environment

  • Knowledgeable in mechanical and electrical principles, machining practices, metal properties, and the application of mathematics for production machinery.

  • Proficient in modern fabrication and assembly techniques, as well as machine-shop practices.

  • Able to mentally visualize and comprehend all aspects of manufacturing equipment or tooling problems, understanding the inter-relationships of factors and paying attention to detail.

  • Capable of efficiently integrating existing methods with innovations to solve production problems promptly.

  • Demonstrates initiative and the ability to work effectively with minimal direction, with a working knowledge of computer-controlled machine tools and exposure to high-volume automated production equipment.

  • Possesses strong speaking and telephone skills.

  • Proficient in reading, writing, and understanding English, with expertise in Excel and Word programs.

  • Able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, employees, and outside vendors through telephone, in-person, and written and verbal correspondence.

  • Self-motivated with excellent problem-solving skills.
