Residence Life Case Manager at University of Oklahoma

Job Description:

This position provides case management support to students experiencing difficulties by assessing concerns and determining the type of intervention needed and the best resources with which to connect the student. Serves as a campus resource by developing and presenting resource materials and in-person workshops for Housing and Residence Life staff, and campus partners related to students of concern, coordinating outreach efforts to students and staff to facilitate support, and serving as a liaison to University departments and individuals (on and off campus) to consult and advise on students of concern. This person will serve as a Behavior Intervention team liaison and be the departmental point of contact for the Sooner Works program. They will conduct programs, activities and events for students and staff targeting mental health and wellness.


 


Behavior Intervention and Student Outreach:



  • Assesses situations involving students of concern and determines the type of intervention needed and appropriate courses of action.

  • Meets regularly with students of concern to assist in connecting them with resources and helping them to matriculate through the University. 

  • Interfaces with parents, faculty, and staff to address issues related to students of concern adequately.

  • Serves as a liaison to Housing and Residence Life, and other campus partners and individuals to consult and advise on students of concern related issues.  

  • Participates in weekly case management and Behavior Intervention Team meetings.

  • Responsible for the follow up of all residential student transports 

  • Participates in after-hours “OU Advocates” crisis rotation to aid students in crisis situations.

  • Serve as SoonerWorks liaison 


Student/Staff Resources and Development



  • Develops and administers resource materials and in-person workshops/seminars/classes for Housing & Residence Life related to students of concern.  

  • Coordinates outreach efforts to students and staff to facilitate support.

  • Maintains directory of resources available to students, including resources for students with financial needs.  


Administrative



  • Researches, collects, and analyzes data or information and prepares reports or responses to inquires.

  • Monitors and maintains a budget for designated area. 

  • Performs additional duties as assigned or required 

Required Education: Bachelor's Degree, AND: 



  • 12 months in student programming, student services, or closely related experience.


Equivalency/Substitution: Will accept 48 months related experience in lieu of the Bachelor's degree for a total of 60 months experience.

Certifications:




  • Valid Driver's License. Employees who drive any university vehicle or their own personal vehicle while performing an assigned duty by their supervisor must have a valid driver's license. 



Advertised Physical Requirements:



  • Regular pressure to meet productivity standards.

  • Frequent exposure to pressure caused by deadlines and busy periods.

  • Must be 18 years or older.

  • Must not ever have had a felony conviction for abuse of any kind, theft, rape, sexual assault, distribution of drugs or other similar conviction.

  • Perseverance, both physically and mentally, for fast-paced and demanding responsibilities required.

  • Frequent and repetitive arm and wrist movement.

  • As essential personnel you may be required to work during emergency University closings, to include inclement weather.

  • Nights, early mornings, and weekends may apply.


Department Preferences:



  • Master's Degree from an accredited college or university, in Higher Education, Social Work, Counseling, or related. 

  • 12 or more months professional experience serving in a social worker or counseling role.

  • Knowledge of Roompact, StarRez, Maxient, or similar tools, preferred. 


Supervision: May supervise a graduate student and will report to the Assistant Director of Residence Life.
