Accounts Receivable Clerk

Position Overview –

AJM Packaging Corporation, one of America’s leading manufacturers of paper products, including paper plates, cups, bowls and bags, is seeking a detail-oriented, highly motivated individual with experience in researching unauthorized deductions. The Accounts Receivable Clerk must possess a great work ethic, the ability to solve problems, and work well independently and in a team environment.

Responsibilities & Duties –

• Ability to monitor and identify ongoing issues that cause payment delays and unauthorized deductions


• Research deductions daily and process customer refunds


• Contact customers via calls, emails and online portals, with overdue accounts due to unauthorized deductions and attempt to either collect the overdue amount or negotiate a payment plan to collect the balance


• Generate related monthly reports


• Develop, implement and maintain efficient procedures to actively pursue unauthorized deductions and aged receivables


• Ensure compliance with applicable regulations, policies, and best practices

Minimum Requirements –

• Associate degree in related field required, Bachelor’s degree preferred


• Minimum 3 years of experience in Accounts Receivable


• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and Outlook)


• High attention to accuracy and details


• Ability to prioritize duties and follow-through


• Strong organizational skills


• Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills


• Credit Analysis experience is a plus


• Manufacturing environment experience is a plus

About Us –

AJM was originally founded shortly after the Korean War as a distributor of commercial paper, plastic and foil packaging products and related cleaning, janitorial and order processing supplies and equipment by three (3) Detroit area brothers operating out of a small warehouse in Detroit’s Eastern Market.  In 1957 they built and moved into slightly larger quarters on Detroit’s southwest side, where, for the very first time, they began manufacturing their own products.   Over the ensuing decades, AJM gradually evolved from its broadline distributor beginnings into a major paper products manufacturer, today employing nearly 3,000 people and operating eight (8) manufacturing and five (5) warehouse/distribution facilities strategically located throughout the United States.
