The Center for Learning, Teaching, and Research (CLTR) at Colgate University invites applications for the newly created position of Assistant Director for Student Success. The CLTR offers support to both students and faculty and is committed to fostering an inclusive teaching and learning community through collaboration, understanding and partnership. The Assistant Director for Student Success will join the CLTR in an effort to expand capacity and further the Center's mission of supporting and promoting student success. The position will report to the Co-Director of the Center for Teaching, Learning and Research, student programs.
The position will play a collaborative role in overseeing the peer tutor program and take a leadership role in training and supporting tutors. Additionally, the role will contribute to the office's efforts to help students enhance their study strategies, time management, and organizational skills, fostering academic success across the student body. The successful candidate will support students in developing strong reading comprehension skills. This position will also support new CLTR initiatives consistent with the campus-wide updates to the Third-Century Plan and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Plan.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Office Management
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with support staff on matters of budgets, scheduling, projects and calendars.
Specialized Professional Development
Demonstrated background and capacity to engage in professional development opportunities to stay current on relevant practices that will enhance the effectiveness of the work with students as it relates to strategies of student success, reading comprehension and tutor training.
Management and Tutoring Software
Demonstrated ability to assist the Co-Director and CLTR office coordinator with management of tutoring software and records associated with the tutoring system.
