Job Summary:
The Research & Development Engineering Specialist /Engine Air System Validation Lead position is responsible for the risk assessment and validation plan development and execution for the engine air system components including turbo, intake and exhaust system, heat shield and air compressor, etc. The position is within the Virtual Product Development (VPD)/Validation team, part of the IPSD-Large (IPSD-L) engineering team in Mossville, Illinois.

What You Will Do:
Lead Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) project development for the air system components by collaborating with the design, simulation, testing, and platform teams to support NPI and CPI programs
Lead/contribute to FMEA sessions and validation workshops to assess the design risks by analyzing the failure modes, causes and effects
Develop robust and efficient Design Verification Plans (DVPs) including simulation, bench, lab, machine/application testing activities to ensure that new designs meet the design and quality requirements.
Maintain/update the FMEA projects throughout the NPI cycle
Coordinate validation execution activities with the testing and simulation teams
Communicate validation status to the design team and other business partners
Present validation status overview to stakeholders in Design Reviews
Co-lead iModel projects to improve the simulation and testing tools/processes
What You Will Have:

Project Management (Extensive Experience): Knowledge of effective project management strategies and tactics; ability to plan, organize, monitor, and control projects, ensuring efficient utilization of technical and administrative resources to achieve project objectives.
Analytical Thinking (Extensive Experience): Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of technical problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems.
Education: Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Material Science, or other accredited engineering curriculum.

Summary Pay Range: $123,480.00 - $185,280.00 Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
