Job/Position Summary

The Trade Compliance Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring the Company’s trade compliance program under applicable laws and regulations. You will serve as a subject matter expert regarding trade policies and procedures, training internal stakeholders as needed. In addition, you will support other related compliance initiatives.

Major Areas of Responsibility

  • Ensure Company operations comply with applicable international trade laws, regulations, and policies.
  • Provide guidance, leadership, and direction to personnel performing trade-related tasks and activities.
  • Act as a subject matter expert for trade compliance; serve as the central point of contact for interaction with government officials and customers’ and suppliers’ compliance representatives.
  • Identify trade compliance risks; develop and implement appropriate corrective actions.
  • Prepare, review, and submit applications for licenses, permits and other government authorizations.
  • Monitor deemed export and denied party screening activities for customers, suppliers, third-party agents, employees, and visitors; prepare technology control plans and provide technology transfer oversight as needed.
  • Review and standardize the Company’s use of third-party service providers (e.g., customs brokers, logistics) for improved compliance.
  • Exercise working knowledge of government contracting requirements and stay current with U.S. government contracting regulations.
  • Develop and conduct trade compliance training.
  • Develop and implement an audit program of business units and facilities to maintain compliance with the Company’s trade program.
  • Analyze and interpret import/export regulations and maintain current knowledge of changes.
  • Provide updates of regulatory developments and compliance requirements to senior management as needed.
  • Provide information and reports necessary for public disclosure and risk management.
  • Coordinate collection and reporting of Conflict Mineral information.
  • Perform projects as needed, including assistance and support for other compliance matters.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Working experience with International Traffic in Arms Regulations, Export Administration Regulations, including anti-boycott regulations, sanctions administered by the Office of Foreign Assets Control, and Customs and Foreign Trade regulations.
  • Working experience with ECCN and HTS classifications and country of origin determinations; familiarity with United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement requirements and Maquiladora manufacturing structures.
  • Proficiency with trade compliance systems and the ability to research transactions and prepare reports in Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, ideally SAP.
  • Detail orientated with excellent interpersonal, communication and writing skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and exercise good judgment.
  • Flexibility; willingness to flex your schedule as needed to handle overseas calls and other demands.
  • Adaptability; willingness to learn and take on additional general compliance tasks, depending on need and capacity.
  • Ability to travel as necessary (up to 20%).

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 5+ years of relevant trade compliance experience
  • Relevant trade certifications are a plus

The expected annual salary range for this position is $115,000-140,000.

This position is eligible for a discretionary bonus with a target incentive of 10% of base salary.
