How This Position Contributes to the Team

Account Executives at the Water Environment Federation (WEF) are the principal customer facing professionals working to achieve our organization's revenue goals. In this position you will manage a territory based on expertise, geography or other criteria assigned by senior management. The position will have annual sales goals and growth goals.

NOTE: This position is open to either 100% remote work or hybrid work (80% remote, 20% in-office) and requires travel (up to 20% of the year) to attend trade shows and conferences and visit customers.

Principal Functions:

  • Manages the service or sale of a portfolio of accounts.
  • Estimates and analyzes records of present and past operations, trends and costs, estimated and realized revenue, administrative commitments, and obligations incurred.
  • Identifies and contacts potential new customers and handles their individual needs.
  • Develops positive relationships and keeps in contact with clients, answers their questions, and resolves conflicts and provides solutions to issues that arise.
  • Predicts future market trends and develops new sales ideas.
  • Sets and tracks sales account targets, keeping aligned with company objectives.
  • Interprets accounts and records to management.
  • May be responsible for sales budget.
  • Must attend trade shows and conferences.
  • Sales of Exposition Space in WEFTEC or Other Expositions.
  • Sales of Sponsorships in WEFTEC or Other Expositions.
  • Media, Magazine, and other Digital Sales.
  • Principal CRM Manager for a book of business.
  • Responsible for managing the account from prospecting to sale.
  • Responsible for working with Customer Success, Events, and Media to be the principal liaison with the customer.
  • Responsible for follow-up and market intelligence.
  • Required to work in WEF’s CRM system.
  • Required to travel up to 20% of the year to visit customers.
  • Required to work WEF events or other sold products and act in service of our customers.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent systems experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in expo or media sales.
  • Strong attention to detail and reporting.
  • Ability to multi-task within existing systems and platforms.
  • Great time management skills.
  • Ability to interact with customers on the telephone, email, and other media in a productive and professional manner.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively.
  • Ability to work towards goals for the organization.
  • Openness to the best customer service.
  • Great active listener and delivering top level customer service.
  • Driven by mission success.
  • Ability to travel up to 20% of the year.

This person will work primarily in an office environment using standard office equipment. Onsite duties will require longer periods of standing and/or walking.
