Job Summary
The Undergraduate Program at Kelley School of Business is seeking an Assistant Director of Student Life to join a team dedicated to student development and to providing enriching educational experiences beyond the classroom for more than 10,000 high-achieving undergraduate business students. The Student Life team works to support 80+ registered student organizations, Kelley Student Government, and academic related co-curricular experiences. The candidate must be committed to providing equitable and safe space for staff to work and students to thrive.
Department-Specific Responsibilities
Responsible for designing and administering student life initiatives geared at increasing student engagement and involvement, fostering wellness and development, building community, and improving the student campus experience. Student life initiatives are primarily related to campus student or social organizations, adjustment opportunities, learning centers, and affinity or thematic groups.
Frequently interfaces directly with students and collaborates with staff in own department and other departments on shared student life goals.
Develops and implements programs and initiatives geared at improving student engagement and involvement outcomes at the program, department/division, or campus level.
Directly provides leadership to Camp Kelley Lakeside, a first-year program for incoming Direct Admit students.
Interfaces directly with students, attending student life events and programs and gathering satisfaction feedback from student participants to implement into future student life initiatives and objectives.
Collaborates with staff in own department and other departments, as well as student organization leaders, on shared student life goals, often coordinating funding to sponsor student life initiatives.
Measures and evaluates effectiveness of student life initiatives against projected outcomes; regularly prepares reports and presents to stakeholders on effectiveness and to secure funding for initiatives moving forward.
Provides guidance to student organizations regarding operations, budget, leadership, activities, recruitment, registration, policies, and compliance.
Promotes leadership and student development through advising of individual student leaders and volunteers.
Contributes to formation, interpretation, and implementation of student organization policies.
Plans and coordinates communications for student life initiatives to ensure student participation and inclusion.
May serve as an advisor for Kelley Student Government.
May provide guidance to other Student Life Specialists; makes process recommendations to manager for improved delivery of service.
Serves as a member of the Student Life team and is classified as Student Services (SA) / Student Life Specialist / Career.

EDUCATION

Bachelor's degree in public affairs, public health, counseling, social work, education, business, or related field

Working Conditions / Demands
This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.
In addition to typical office work, the Assistant Director will engage in medium lifting requirements, including moving boxes of supplies for programs, 25-50 pound boxes for orientation, facilitating food service, and setting furniture for special events.
