Job Description
SUMMARY
The Cylinder Maintenance Technician is responsible for all aspects of maintenance, cleaning, inventory, tracking, and shipping of sample cylinders throughout the Upstream group locations.
Responsible for cleaning, per SOP and/or lab policy, all cylinders used by the St. Rose, LA laboratory and potentially others used throughout our system.
Responsible for tracking all cylinders throughout departmental locations using existing SharePoint tracking program.
Responsible for general maintenance of all cylinders. This includes repair of cylinders, valves, rupture disks, plugs, labels, etc.
Responsible for ensuring cylinders comply with all US DOT regulations regarding shipping and transport throughout the USA.
Responsible for keeping all documentation up to date (paper and electronic) to meet DOT and SGS requirements.
Provide feedback to management on assigned projects.
Responsible for the operation of steam generation cleaning equipment.
Must follow all SGS policies regarding safety and participate fully in all SGS safety programs.
Assist with other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High School or equivalent Required
Previous experience working with hand tools in associated industries such as petrochemical, mechanical, carpentry, or other field where good mechanical aptitude is desired. Required
A valid and current Driver's license may be required if the role requires driving a company vehicle. Required
KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES
Language Skills: Intermediate English Required (Advanced Preferred)
Reasoning Skills/Abilities: Intermediate level required, uses logical and practical approach to solve problems Required
Ability to effectively communicate (in writing or verbally), presenting information individually or in small group situations to internal or external customers Required
Ability to follow directions ensuring the end results are accurate and completed with the required timeframe Required

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals Required

EQUIPMENT
This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, printers, and phones.
This role may use sample prep equipment that may include Jaw Crusher, Bowl & Disc Pulverizing Mills, Pressure Filters, Riffle Splitters, Compressed Air, Hammer Mill Crushers, Ovens, Balances, and basic sampling tools.
