Job Description:

Obtains current, complete, and accurate demographics following all EMTALA and CMS guidelines.Obtains insurance eligibility; identifies and attempts the collection of Emergency Room co-pays.Communicates with patients any/all options for payment as per ESH policy if unable to collect at time of service.Offers service charge information as required under transparency rules.Understands and abides by guidelines and regulations of the individual payers.Assists with patient scheduling, as necessary.Assists in the organizational process of incoming patient orders, verifying order is valid, adding the order information to the department tracking sheet.Identifies concerns and offers constructive suggestions for improvement within department with the Patient Access Manager.Must be able to handle difficult situations while maintaining a calm demeanor.Completes admission notification to insurance carriers as required per facility carrier contracts. May assist with eligibility checks and service prior authorization.Expected to obtain an 85% accuracy rate within the first 90 days: to achieve and maintain a 98% accuracy rate after the first 6 months of employment. Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Position Requirements:
1+ year of experience in customer service; Emergency Department or medical office setting preferred. Must be able to work independently.Requires Attention to Detail.Must be able to accurately utilize keyboard/multi-line telephones while multitasking. Must be able to adapt to changing needs and to work in a sometimes fast paced environment.
