Located in Greater Boston, MassBay is a comprehensive, open-access community college offering associate degrees and certificate programs on three campuses in Wellesley Hills, Framingham, and Ashland, Massachusetts.

Position Summary:

The idealcandidate will demonstrate a passion for teaching and promoting success among adiverse student population. The candidate is expected to commit toexcellence in teaching and learning, collaboration and professionaldevelopment. Adjunct faculty areexpected to deliver course materials in a learner-centered environmentconductive to engaging students in the learning process. The faculty member inthis position communicates consistently and effectively with students, facultyand administrators, and responds to communications within a 24 hour period oftime. The faculty is responsible for managing this clinical course throughtimely grading of assignments, providing substantial student feedback withassignments, and submission of clinical evaluations, attendance and grades.
MassBayCommunity College seeks qualified part-time instructors for the current andfuture semesters in the Practical Nursing Program. The practical nursingclinical course covers nursing care of clients in the medical-surgical units inan acute care hospital, long-term care, or rehabilitation facility. Theinstructor must have clinical experience, communicate effectively, and be ableto assess students objectively and work as part of a team.
Instructorresponsibilities include supervising students in the clinical setting; guidancein completing assignments such as daily clinical worksheets, concept maps, andcare plans; medication card system, and conducting student evaluations.

PN 121 Medical/Surgical Nursing I: Mondays & Wednesdays 7:00am-3:30pm or 2:00pm-1030pm (clinicalcourse)

PN 122 Medical/Surgical Nursing II: Mondays & Wednesdays 7:00am-3:30pm or2:00pm-1030pm (clinical course)

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Demonstrate knowledge of subject matter and an awareness of new developments in the field;
  • Integrate didactic content into the student(s) clinical assignment;
  • Communicate with course faculty regularly to track student progress or to develop performance improvement plans to support student learning;
  • Responsible for conducting the mid-semester and final clinical evaluations;
  • Assign, supervise, plan, experience, and evaluate students in practice learning environments based on course and program student learning outcomes;
  • Provide support, guidance, and instruction on all aspects of patient care while at the clinical facility or laboratory classroom;
  • Demonstrate procedures and patient care in clinical or laboratory nursing settings;
  • Provide feedback to the assistant dean of nursing, program director, and clinical placement coordinator on the appropriateness of the health care agency in terms of teaching/learning environments for students;
  • Provide feedback to course faculty on student preparedness regarding curriculum;
  • Attend course-specific orientation on campus with the Assistant Dean of Nursing and course faculty;
  • Participate in clinical faculty mentoring as identified by the Assistant Dean of Nursing and course faculty;
  • Participate in the Program’s continuous improvement efforts, which include BORN and ACEN requirements;
  • Maintain appropriate paperwork and documentation required by the program.

Required Qualifications:

  • Current unencumbered Massachusetts RN license;
  • Recent clinical practice in relevant areas: Medical Surgical clinical experience, long-term care or rehabilitation experience;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills;
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively and collaboratively with a diverse faculty, staff, and student body;
  • Clinical teaching experience.

Additional Information:

Salary Range: $72.64 - 82.83 DCE Per Credit
