Essential Duties: 



  • Responsible for overseeing, planning, writing, and creative design direction for various print and digital publications, including email newsletters, annual reports, and magazines.

  • Produces captivating stories and content that markets to the desired audience for the publication pieces.

  • Analyzes metrics associated with publications and creates strategies based on findings

  • Oversees planning, distribution, writing, proofreading, and creative design direction for various print and digital publications.

  • Work closely with the News Bureau team to flag content for publications that captivate audiences.

  • Ensures publications align with the university branding and alignment to the strategic plan and institutional goals

  • Ensures content is proportionately represented across the college or campuses to highlight the achievements of all stakeholders.

  • Works collaboratively with the creative team to ensure publications; designs and imagery are engaging and appropriate for audiences.

  • Develops and manages publications schedules while working cross-functionally to meet all timelines.

  • Tracks and analyzes the effectiveness of publications through readership metrics, feedback, and digital engagement.

  • Creates processes and prioritizes tasks and department objectives

  • Leads assigned projects and mentors, coaches, and delegates work

  • Mentors junior level staff

  • Update and refines strategies as needed

  • Performs other duties as assigned

Required Education: Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing or a related field, AND: 



  • 24 months experience in marketing, public relations, or communications



 Skills:




  • Excellent writing, editing, proofreading, and verbal communication skills with a keen attention to detail.



  • Advanced knowledge of creating written content to market to target audiences.



  • Proven track record of leading digital and print publication platforms.



  • Familiarity with AP style or other editorial standards.



  • Highly organized and able to handle multiple competing projects and deadlines.



  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including working across multiple constituencies.

  •  None



Advertised Physical Requirements:



  • Must be able to work effectively in shared spaces.

  • Must be able to work in a high-impact, fast-paced environment with pressure to adhere to frequent deadlines.

  • Standard office environment.


Department Preferences:



  • Experience with content creation, editing, and project management.

  • Knowledge of publication and distribution software.


Supervision: Will supervise non-student employees
