SUMMARY: The position of Sr. Estimator has been established to enhance the profitability of the business by producing and assembling bids, budgets, and design build proposals that accurately reflect projects within Baker Electric's scope. The Sr. Estimator will build and maintain relationships with clients, mentor others, and problem solve some of the most complex estimating issues. This an exempt position and may lead and directly manage employees.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manage, mentor estimators, training. Contributes to the personal growth of reports through pursuing continuing education courses and workshops and also by sharing past experiences/lessons learned.

Weekly one-on-ones with reports
Work with ops to gather pricing information on budgeted line items in an estimate. Assist in the process of gathering actual cost (with Ops & Subcontractors) vs. estimated cost, maintaining project cost history, and updating accubid templates and internal budgeting tools as necessary, when relevant information is provided.
Module hot-sheet pricing
Provide leadership and direction with regards to means and methods, schedule, and strategy.
Workload assignment & follow up.
Attend all bid-reviews
Assist with business development activities with other divisions inside of Baker.
Assumes job duties and responsibilities of the Estimator II.
Manage, oversee, and perform all take-off and quantity surveys per company standardized procedures.
Leads Estimating Team with timely roll-out and execution of the entire estimate deliverable process.
Conduct initial analysis of drawings and specifications to ensure required documentation is present and determine scope of work.
Responsible for the completion of all bid related documents.
Critically analyze bid documents and understand risk and opportunities and articulate those to management.
Organize the bid team, providing leadership and direction with regards to means and methods, schedule, and strategy.
Participate in technical proposals for Alternative Delivery projects as requested.
Effectively plug budgets for all disciplines, vendors, and subcontractors.
Create detailed crew and production cost estimates and review prices with estimating team.
Attends project site pre-bid meetings, site tours, and post-bid interviews as required.
Accurately assesses and plans takeoff workload.
Assist in the process of gathering actual cost vs. estimated cost, maintaining project cost history.
Manage and maintain subcontractor database and subcontractor prequalification.
Builds and maintains effective relationships with customers, design team, subcontractors, suppliers, vendors and user groups that reflect and support company core values and meets or exceeds the customer’s expectations.
Assist with business developments activities.
Conduct special studies to develop and analyze new material and installation procedures and related cost data to determine the effect of possible cost reductions as directed by Chief Estimator.
Perform other special projects as needed
EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION:
5 – 10 years of experience as an Electrical Estimator
Proven ability to successfully complete various estimates and budgets simultaneously
Proven knowledge of electrical relevant to needs of the business group
Overall understanding of construction business (operations, procurement / buy outs, risk management, etc.)
Years of experience in role may vary by previous field experience in the electrical trade and/or Bachelor’s Degree in related field is a plus (Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, etc.)
CPE “Certified Professional Electrical Estimator” a plus
Proficiency in Bluebeam, Procore, MS Project, or other related Construction Management software
Proficiency in Accubid or other related Construction Estimating software
