Position Summary:

Hunt Valve Company has been manufacturing shipboard valves for naval customers for decades. The company, now part of Fairbanks Morse Defense, is rapidly growing and in need of a buyer for the purchasing department. This position would directly support the purchasing team in day-to-day activities to ensure work progresses on schedule and with high quality. Hunt offers a unique working environment that allows a hands-on individual to develop and grow as the company expands its footprint and maintains high performance as a trusted defense contractor.

Essential Job Functions:

1. Issuing RFQs and purchase orders timely to support production
2. Managing supplier due dates and expediting crucial orders
3. Build and maintain effective relationships with suppliers
4. Work with planning and operations to support manufacturing schedules
5. Assist with payables and invoicing questions/issues
6. Strong problem-solving skills.

Skills Desired:

1. Analytical and financial skills.
2. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
3. Works well in a fast-paced environment with minimal day-to-day supervision
4. Working experience in an ERP system
5. Skilled in Excel, Word, Power-Point
6. Understanding of blueprints and drawings
7. Negotiate terms and pricing with suppliers.

Essential Job Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS: High School Diploma. CPM certification is a plus.

EXPERIENCE: 1 year of purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment
