We are currently looking to add a VP of Pharma Services to our executive leadership team. The role is expected to proactively partner with Executives and Senior Leadership members responsible for Business Development, Finance, People Operations and other Company Operations leaders to improve overall workflows and processes.

This VP will serve as KCAS Bio lead operational expert for all Pharma Services (Development and Production) as needed in collaboration with Business Development during key client engagement and ongoing key client work.

In this role, you will:


  • Be responsible for all departmental activities related to Pharma Operations (development and production); providing support of on-site programs and studies, for multiple departments

  • Provide executive level support with global acquisitions as needed

  • Provide executive level support with board reporting and financial forecasting

  • Acquire and introduce appropriate new technologies to the company to diversify operational capability, and/or improve quality and/or efficiency

  • Be a key participant in strategic planning for securing and retaining new clients through building strong relationships and the development of new services and technologies

  • Act as an expert resource in development, optimization and troubleshooting of complex technical problems

  • Partner with Executives and Senior Leadership Members to instill Company Brand Values within the organization and support external brand awareness

  • Routinely report on progress of groups as they relate to company goals and ongoing concerns that impact the ability to perform work

  • Build strong relationships as a leader with all areas of the Company

  • Provide scientific and innovative thinking with advanced level of technical skill and insight, keeping abreast and maintaining a broad knowledge of state-of-the art principles, theories, and regulatory updates

  • Forecast and recommend strategies to accommodate growth when needed (space, equipment, human resources)

  • Establish policies and procedures to ensure that the Pharma organization maintains a high level of scientific excellence, remain abreast of current technologies, and complies with relevant regulatory policies, OSHA and company SOPs/policies

  • Recommend/implement/approve processes and procedures to improve data integrity, reduce error rates and efficiency

  • Effectively interact with external clients to drive brand equity and value of relationships with targeted market(s), developing strong relationships with key accounts and representing KCAS Bio Brand to the customer

  • Develop long and short-range operating objectives, organizational structure of direct reports and staffing requirements, including development of departmental plan for backup and succession planning of key technical personnel

  • Direct activities of assigned departments to ensure optimum performance of the group/function, to deliver high quality scientific data, on-time and within budget that meets or exceeds client expectations

  • Prepare and deliver salary and performance reviews; review and approve salary appraisals initiated by direct and indirect reports

  • Ensure that continuous training and educational needs of the staff are met in a timely manner

  • Ensure effective communication within the entire organization, to provide overlap of diverse expertise. Implement techniques to improve productivity, increase efficiencies and maintain state-of-the-art practices

  • Hire competent staff and build a strong leadership, scientific and operational team

  • Attend in-house and national scientific meetings and give presentations as appropriate

  • Perform other related duties as assigned

To qualify specifically for this role, you will have:


  • Bachelors in a scientific related field required, with minimum 20 years' experience in CRO, Pharma, or Biotech industry conducting scientific research. MS or Ph.D. preferred

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above

  • Minimum 20 years' experience in developing a wide variety of analytical and bioanalytical techniques for the quantitation of biotherapeutics, and immunogenicity

  • Excellent knowledge of the principles of bioanalysis for biotherapeutics, by current state of the art technologies and methodologies including but not limited to all relevant techniques associated with mass spectrometry and related chromatographic techniques (i.e. UHPLC for Dose form analysis) to support clients development needs

  • Advanced operational acumen in the field of Bioanalytical, Biomarkers, Pharmacokinetics and Dose Form Analysis across the R&D range of Discovery, non-clinical, clinical and post commercialization.

  • Working knowledge of state-of-the-art principles, theories, and regulatory updates for therapeutics and biomarkers

  • Demonstrated ability to conduct scientific research in non-GLP (discovery) and GxP regulatory environment

  • Excellent knowledge of MS Word, Excel, technical writing

  • Strong knowledge of financial metrics and budgets

  • Professional understanding of hiring and employment practices

  • Leadership, effective communication, team building, and management

  • Familiar with current industry trends and expectations relating to therapeutic modalities
