Job Description:

This is a specialized role that focuses on claims creation and execution. This role will be responsible

for keeping up the ever-changing industry norms of LTL tariffs and function as the frontline defense on behalf of our customers. This role will also work as the lynchpin between Managed Trans Operations and Freight Bill and Audit to take ownership of all unmatched and disputed invoices that are transferred to the operations review queue. In addition, this position will be required to investigate all freight claims, through timely and thorough investigation, filing with the carrier/vendor and seeing the claim through to successful resolution. This role will drive value by removing cumbersome, consequential, and specialized work from the coordinators, allowing them to spend more valuable time with the customer.

Responsibilities:

  • Clearly understand internal instructions regarding a customer’s shipment requirements and handle complex contract exemptions.
  • Develop meaningful relationships with customers, carrier reps, billing team members, and operational team members to ensure carrier and customer needs are developed and cared for to ensure sustainability.
  • Continually collaborate with internal colleagues, teammates, and any other personnel necessary to help resolve any issues or problems with invoices and claims.
  • Collaborate with sales representatives and account management staff to understand customer needs, including standards of care and standard operating procedures.
  • Be aware of, review, know where to find, and work in accordance with, company policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrate pricing proficiency, resourcefulness, and creativity, relating to negotiating pricing with carriers.
  • Persuade and negotiate with carriers and customers to ensure best claim and dispute resolutions are obtained.
  • Document, develop, and provide training programs to correct and improve vendor and customer location performance.
  • Serve as subject matter expert for operational invoice review and claims.
  • Serve as facilitator and content delivery medium for all training.
  • Ensure direction and training align to overcome packaging, shipping, transportation, and all other supply chain related deficiencies.
  • Timely investigation of all managed transportation freight claims. This will include filing the claim with the carrier/vendor/RDC, as well as seeing the claim through the process for successful resolution.
  • Effectively track all claims activity using managed transportation claims software, customer claims software, and carrier website filing

Qualifications:

  • Strong analytical ability.
  • Strong understanding of Microsoft Office suite, particularly with Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to research and present complex market data in a clear and concise way.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Confidence in carrier invoicing
  • Ability to work as a team and independently as needed.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks at once, often with competing priorities.
  • Knowledge of the trucking/logistics industry
  • Ability to create and foster positive relationships with customers.
  • Ability to take verbal and written instruction and execute with confidence.
  • Ability to present action plans and strategies to both internal and external contacts.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, supply chain management, or similar field required.
  • 1 year of relevant experience may be substituted for each year of education required.
  • 3+ years’ experience seeing Claims and/or invoices through to resolution in a transportation setting required.
  • 2+ years previous customer service experience required.

Covenant’s compensation philosophy’s intent is to use a competitive total compensation strategy to determine the current market value of a position while also considering individual factors such as performance in current position, time in seat of current position, experience, level of responsibility/accountability, and longevity with the company. The system will be objective and non-discriminatory.

Pay Range: $49,657.32-$77,923.79

Pay Grade: 8
