Regional Nursing Informaticist (Full-time)

Hours per Pay Period: 1.00 = 80 hours (Exempt)
Starting Wage DOE: $31.21 - 36.67


This hybrid/remote role is responsible for supporting utilization of EHR technology for regional affiliates of Billings Clinic. Serves as the primary subject matter expert resource for related Cerner/Oracle EHR systems in assigned clinical areas including regional affiliates contracted under the Managed Services Agreement (MSA). Provides clinical and technical expertise as a consultant to the user community, Information Services, vendors, etc. Supports planning and design of business solutions and resources needed to meet business goals/objectives, facilitation of the integration of data, information, knowledge and/or systems to support improved productivity, efficiency, decision making, and/or quality outcomes in all roles and health care settings. Work is performed under general supervision and in accordance with established goals/objectives for department and/or business unit.



Essential Job Functions




• Serves as the primary subject matter expert resource to support implementation and on-going development of Cerner/Oracle EHR systems. Coordinates closely with Regional Leadership, Billings Clinic Informatics and Information Systems Leaders and staff, key regional affiliate stakeholders and software vendors to support ongoing planning, analysis, design, implementation, evaluation, training and support for business solutions and resources needed to meet business goals and objectives.
• Serves as a liaison and expert resource with the user community, and Billings Clinic Informatics and IS teams to identify problems and concerns regarding the overall performance of the EHR in various settings for regional affiliates, including CAH and ambulatory settings. Responsible for supporting the development of orientation systems and tools, and on-going training and education processes of assigned personnel both virtually and on site at affiliate locations.
• Develops collaborative relationships with key stakeholders across the region and internal to Billings Clinic and effectively utilizes a variety of communication tools.
• Supports implementation and management of Cerner/Oracle EHR system configurations, analyzing data, information and information system requirements. Develops and provides a variety of reports.
• Provides expert analytical techniques to current work processes and data flow and develops process redesign recommendations leading to a solution and/or functional system requirements.
• Researches, analyzes and makes recommendations and/or initiates corrective action/technical support to resolve problems with the internal functionality of the system and/or integration of information between systems. Requires use of information system development methodologies.
• Evaluates and recommends enhancement needs for the implementation and on-going development of Cerner/Oracle EHR in the facility.
• Effectively collaborates and coordinates with, with the Regional Leadership team, Information Services, health care providers, staff, etc.
• Effectively develops and provides EHR related education both in person and virtually.
• Travels to affiliate sites to provide on-site assessments, evaluation, and at the elbow support.
• Assumes responsibility for team facilitation, follow-up of requests, project status and coordination with appropriate team members.
• Participates in the development of policies and procedures as it relates to Cerner/Oracle EHR and utilization of the information system.
• Develops innovative quality improvement activities related to informatics or information technology within the facility resulting in improved information flow and/or processes, improved quality outcomes, etc.
• May participate in budgeting and fiscal responsibility for their assigned areas.
• Maintains current knowledge of trends and developments as it relates to information management systems and the assigned department, business unit and/or organization.
• Supports and models behaviors consistent with Billings Clinic's mission, vision, values, code of business conduct and service expectations. Meets all mandatory organizational and departmental requirements. Maintains competency in all organizational, departmental and outside agency standards as it relates to the environment, employee, patient safety or job performance.
• Performs all other duties as assigned or as needed to meet the needs of the department/organization.



Minimum Qualifications




Education



• Minimum four (4) year / Bachelor's Degree from an accredited School of Nursing
• Graduate Degree Master's in Nursing - Preferred



Experience



• Three (3) years' experience as an RN working in a Critical Access Hospital (CAH), or other inpatient or outpatient healthcare facility
• Two (2) years of experience involving the clinical utilization of Cerner/Oracle EHR.
• Nursing informatics experience - Preferred
• Experience providing structured clinical/adult education - Preferred



Certifications and Licenses



• MSN and/or Informatics Nursing Certification - Preferred
• Current Montana or Wyoming RN license - At hire (with ability to obtain multistate RN licensure)
• Current Montana or Wyoming driver's license - At hire
• Ability to be insured to operate organization vehicles - At hire (some travel required)
