The University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg Department of Education is seeking a full-time appointment stream assistant professor/instructor beginning in the 2025-2026 academic year. Responsibilities for the position will include teaching 12 credits (usually four courses) each semester in person on campus. Courses may include educational psychology, social foundations, early childhood engagement, family-school collaboration, and/or general education courses. The duties of these courses will include designing the courses according to the Pennsylvania Department of Education teacher education competencies, assessing students appropriately, and modeling best practices for the student. The successful candidate may also be asked to supervise student teachers.
Additional university expectations of the position include effective advising and mentoring of students, service to campus and university, and continuing scholarly and professional development.
Successful applicants will provide evidence of successful teaching experience and of a professional development plan. A background in early childhood education is desired. Additionally, the University of Pittsburgh values candidates with an interest in matters of diversity.
The successful candidate will possess a PH.D. or an Ed.D., but a master’s degree with teaching experience may be considered. Experience teaching in higher education is a plus. Preference will be given to candidates with a terminal degree (Ph.D. or Ed.D.).
