Location: San Antonio, Texas
Texas Biomed is searching for a Buyer to join our Materials Management team. The Buyer reviews and coordinates purchase orders, procuring expendable and non-expendable equipment, supplies and services for the purchasing office.
The Role:
· Ensures the prompt placement of purchase orders for materials, supplies, equipment, services and other related items at lowest cost, in the specified quantity and quality, and within the specified lead time
· Investigates and evaluates new suppliers by soliciting bids and negotiates as necessary to award new bidder
· Visits Texas Biomedical personnel in other units to solicit and evaluate their recommendations, issues and comments
· Seeks out and develops Small Business suppliers to assist in the achievement of small business goals
· Reviews invoices with accounts payable where the price or terms do not agree with the purchase order; approves supplier invoice exceptions
· Handles travel arrangements for the Institute to include airfare, lodging and other transportation
· Places orders for Controlled Substances that are tracked and auditable
Our Ideal Candidate:
· Associates Degree or 60 hours from an accredited technical institute or college
· Minimum of 3 years of job specific experience including purchasing procedure and internal controls
· Ability to represent the institute effectively in dealing with suppliers
· Computer knowledge in Microsoft Office; experience with Jaggaer a plus
· Highly organized; self-motivated; excellent written and interpersonal communications skills
