Position Summary
The Portfolio Management Intern will provide assistance to the Wealth Management Department with various recurring tasks as well as special projects.
Primary Accountabilities
Conduct research on third-party fund providers, analyzing their performance, strategies, and suitability for clients' portfolios.
Assist in the onboarding process for new clients, helping to set investment objectives and prepare necessary documentation.
Involved in the creation and presentation of investment proposals, supporting data gathering, analysis, and report preparation.
Gain exposure to the portfolio management process, including monitoring and rebalancing portfolios and evaluating investment performance.
Participate in client meetings (at the discretion of the manager) to gain insights into client interactions and relationship management.
Assist in developing client communications, including newsletters, market updates, and investment commentary.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Maintain compliance with all applicable regulations including, but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA).
Position Qualifications
Education/Experience:
The internship will run for Summer of 2025 beginning mid-May and ending early-August.
Able to work a 40-hour work week, Monday-Friday, between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.
Must reside local to Rockford, IL and report to the Rockford East State Street office.
Enrolled in a degree program with courses of study including Finance, Economics, Business, or other related field at a college or university with at least 2 years completed.
Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with the ability to interpret financial data and market trends.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present information clearly and concisely.
Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and familiarity with financial analysis tools (including data analysis tools, if applicable).
High level of attention to detail and accuracy in work.
Demonstrated interest in finance and investment management.
Works well in team environment.
