What Customer and Commercial Operations contributes to BD

The CCO organization operates across the entire North American Region, partnering with the business units to provide and develop enabling capabilities in the areas of commercial contracting, sales enablement and operations, customer care operations, business & pricing analytics, master data management, commercial enablement, operational excellence, and other functions. Senior Program Manager
Reporting to the Director, Operational Excellence, this position requires an expert Senior Continuous Improvement and Change Leader in Commercial Excellence who will lead and manage a portfolio of programs, projects, and process improvement initiatives with a primary focus on Commercial and Customer Operations (CCO) processes for Contracting, Sales Enablement, Customer Care, and Data and Analytics.
Accountabilities in this Role
• Lead a portfolio of projects, as well as business transformation initiatives, related to the improvement of end-to-end processes within Commercial and Customer Operations (CCO) as well as front office customer-facing processes (Pricing, Quoting, etc.).
• Partner with Senior Leaders across the North American Region to understand their business needs and opportunities for improvement. Distill this information into a pipeline of potential initiatives that can deliver tangible business impact (Increased Revenue, Decreased Costs).
• Build and nurture strong relationships with key business unit stakeholders, translating their needs into actionable steps that drive improvements in both their experience and the end customer experience.
• Identify, lead, and drive continuous process improvement/design projects and initiatives while leading and promoting business process and systems/tools integration to drive automation and process standardization throughout Commercial and Customer Operations.
• Drive the change necessary to advance CCO from an organization that is focused on "operational excellence" to one that embraces "commercial excellence."
• Continuously enhance the transparency into CCO processes through the monitoring and analysis of KPIs to provide insights into standard processes as well as opportunities for improvement.
• Guide the successful completion of projects by effectively organizing, mentoring, and motivating a highly skilled cross-functional team.
Qualifications
• 5+ years delivering strategic project results effectively and efficiently.
• Master's degree (Business, Engineering, Operations Management, Mathematics, Science) preferred. Bachelor's degree required.
• Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent certification preferred.
• Self-starter who takes initiative and works with minimal direction.
• Experience with written and verbal communications for both technical and non-technical audiences at the executive leadership level.
• Customer-focused with excellent interpersonal and expectation management skills.
• Effectively organizes and communicates with cross-functional teams.
• Facilitation experience at all levels of the organization with both large and small audiences.
• Proficient in obtaining, organizing, and analyzing data to make fact-based decisions, drive root cause analysis, and evaluate outcomes.
• Demonstrated knowledge of key business financial metrics, providing metrics inputs to various reporting venues, and communicating key performance indicators to partners in support of business objectives.
• Sophisticated statistical analysis skills.
• Organizational Change Management experience.
• Microsoft Word, Excel, Project, and PowerPoint proficiency.
• Minitab, Visio, or equivalent.

Summary:

The Program Manager will lead and coordinate cross-functional teams to develop new products and services in accordance with regulatory requirements and business objectives. The PM will be responsible for defining project goals, timelines, resource allocation, risk management strategies, and quality assurance processes throughout the product development lifecycle. This role requires excellent communication skills, attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and strong leadership capabilities to drive successful outcomes in complex projects.



Responsibilities:



  • Define project scope, objectives, deliverables, and timelines based on customer needs and market trends.

  • Collaborate with engineering teams to identify technical risks and mitigation strategies.

  • Manage resources including budgeting, staffing, and scheduling.

  • Coordinate with suppliers and vendors to ensure compliance with quality standards.

  • Monitor progress against milestones and adjust course as needed.

  • Communicate effectively across all levels of the organization.

  • Ensure adherence to safety protocols and regulatory guidelines.

  • Resolve conflicts between team members or stakeholders.

  • Document project activities, decisions, and results.






Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or related field. Master's degree preferred.

  • Proven experience (5+ years) managing complex medical device product development projects.

  • Strong knowledge of FDA regulations and ISO standards.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

  • Detail-oriented mindset with a focus on quality control.

  • Experience working with international partners and distributors.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
