A Day in the Life
We anticipate the application window for this opening will close on - 13 January 2025.

You will join Medtronic's Surgical Innovations Manufacturing Monofilament team located in our North Haven, CT manufacturing facility.

In this role, you'll set up, operate, and maintain sophisticated extrusion equipment to meet rigorous quality standards, ensuring the delivery of products that meet the needs of patients and healthcare professionals. You'll also partner with our engineering team to innovate and optimize processes, troubleshoot complex issues, and ensure compliance with strict operational guidelines.

Schedule details: 3rd Shift - This position follows an on-site schedule of Sunday through Thursday, with working hours from 10:30 PM to 7:00 AM.
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.


  • Sets up and operates plastic extrusion equipment to manufacture miniature, precision tubing to established quality standards in order to meet production demands.

  • Assists engineering team in development of extrusion tooling, equipment and material.

  • Knows process of screw and tool design, resin characteristics, temperature control, automated feedback loops, and ancillary downstream equipment such as burst testers and slickers.

  • Troubleshoots, repairs and conducts maintenance on extrusion equipment.

  • Ensures materials necessary for extrusions are dried to specifications.

  • Mixes, blends, or colors raw materials as required.

  • Writes and executes equipment qualifications on all new or modified tooling or equipment to test and qualify items and provide documented proof that operations are within established parameters.

  • Operates Intron testing equipment to ensure suture meets specifications

  • Tears down and cleans extrusion equipment after batch is completed

  • Retrieves and logs hoppers from Polymer department to set up and use for extrusion

Must Have: Minimum Requirements -

  • 0 years of experience required.

Nice to Have -


  • Previous extrusion experience

  • Experience using testing equipment such as Instron

  • Mechanical experience

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$36,000.00 - $54,000.00

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Operations Incentive Plan (OIP).

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
