Graduate Admissions | Office of Graduate Education 
The Graduate Admissions Advisor reports to the Associate Director of Graduate Admissions and serves as the main point of contact for prospective students from the point of application through course enrollment. Graduate Admissions Advisors own the application process and are responsible for leading domestic and international student recruitment and yielding efforts, from initial inquiry through enrollment.

Areas of Responsibility


  • Serve as the primary point of contact for students throughout the application process, from initial interest through enrollment. This includes staying in touch with prospects to promote the conversion of prospects to applicants; completion of applications in a timely manner; and yielding of admitted students.  

  • Work with other Graduate Admissions staff members and faculty in academic units to ensure prompt review of applications.  

  • Conduct calling campaigns and phone interviews; Design and deliver live and recorded webinars. 

  • Lead live chat sessions with prospective and admitted students through a variety of social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, and more.   

  • Coordinate and implement Virtual Open House events using Zoom and/or WebEx video conferencing platforms. 

  • Answer student questions on a variety of issues, including the admissions process, program choice, financial aid, housing options, course selection, and more.   

  • Participate in graduate student recruitment activities, including on-campus and off-campus events (domestic and international) on weekdays, evenings, and weekends.  

  • Work collaboratively with Graduate Academics & Student Success; Graduate Student Life; International Student and Scholar Services; and graduate student organizations to ensure that information provided to prospective and new students is consistent and accurate.  

  • Closely monitor recruitment and yielding data and act to ensure targets will be reached.  

  • Contribute to the creation and distribution of weekly status reports to the Director and other designated individuals regarding inquiries, prospects, conversions, applications, admissions, and enrollments.  

  • Make effective use of marketing campaign tools within Slate CRM to drive applications and enrollments.  

  • Maintain an understanding of trends and current events impacting graduate student enrollments.   

  • Understand and act in accordance with relevant policies and procedures. 

  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.  

Required Qualifications 


  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.  

  • Degrees in higher education administration, student affairs, counseling, business, or marketing preferred.  

  • Minimum of 2+ years of experience working in admissions at a university. 

  • Able and willing to work early mornings, evenings and weekends as needed.  

  • Able and willing to travel for recruitment, including overnight travel both domestically and internationally.  

  • Valid U.S. Driver’s License and the ability to rent and drive a vehicle.  

  • Superior organizational skills and ability to prioritize projects and manage multiple deadlines.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong attention to detail.  

  • Ability to establish and maintain productive working relationships with faculty and staff colleagues.  

  • Ability to professionally represent the University to a variety of constituents.  

  • Ability to connect quickly and meaningfully with prospective students.
