Job Description:

RINA is currently recruiting for a Intern - Highways to join its office in Chicago, IL within the North America Infrastructure & Mobility Division.

Mission

Through mentoring and coaching, the Intern will learn the professional aspects and business of Highway design and the application of engineering fundamentals. The Intern will work with other engineers on design projects and gather information for design.

Key Accountabilities


  • Under the supervision of a licensed engineer, assist with the preparation of roadway design calculations and computer aided drafting (CAD)
  • Assist in collecting and maintaining project documentation and preparing various components of plans
  • Assist with field data collection and documentation
  • Provide support in developing and evaluating highway geometric alternatives and technical writing of reports
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications


  • Pursuing an undergraduate engineering degree in Civil, Transportation, or related discipline
  • Previous internship or related experience is a plus
  • Familiarity with MicroStation and/or AutoCAD
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work in a team-oriented environment
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Excel and Word.

Additional Requirements


  • Travel to Chicago client sites may be required based upon business need
  • Travel to Chicago Loop or Lisle office 2 to 3 days a week. Tuesday-Thursday preferred
