Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and visionary manager to lead an IT Enterprise Architecture Product team. This role is crucial in shaping the technological backbone of our organization, ensuring alignment between business strategies and IT capabilities.

Knowledge / Skills:


  • Leadership and Team Management: Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor a team of product owners and architects, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment.

  • Strategic Thinking: Strong strategic thinking skills to align enterprise architecture with business goals and objectives, ensuring that architectural decisions support the overall business strategy.

  • Technical Expertise: In-depth knowledge of enterprise architecture frameworks, methodologies, and best practices. Proficiency in cloud computing and modern software development practices.

  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and to collaborate with cross-functional teams.

  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address complex architectural challenges and to develop innovative solutions that enhance business value.

  • Regulatory Compliance: Understanding of regulatory requirements and industry standards to ensure that all architectural decisions and products comply with relevant regulations.

  • Project Management: Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • Continuous Improvement: Commitment to continuous learning and improvement, staying updated with the latest industry trends and technological advancements.

  • Experience with agile methodologies and product management principles.
    Certifications in relevant areas (e.g., TOGAF, ITIL, PMP, SAFe) are a plus.


Major Duties:

  • Architecture Review Board (ARB) Evolution: Lead and evolve the ARB as a product, ensuring it remains a pivotal decision-making body for IT initiatives. Implement and refine ARB processes based on IT strategy, business needs, and customer feedback to enhance efficiency and effectiveness in evaluating proposed architectures and reducing IT risk.

  • Product Owner Team Management: Manage and mentor a team of product owners responsible for various architecture products. Foster collaboration between the ARB and other organizational units to ensure architectural decisions support business goals.

  • Strategic Alignment: Align product roadmaps with the overall enterprise architecture strategy. Facilitate cross-product integration and consistency in the architecture landscape.

  • Best Practices Implementation: Identify and implement best practices in enterprise architecture methodologies and frameworks. Collaborate with business units to identify opportunities for architectural improvements that enhance value delivery.

  • Guidance on Architectural Decisions: Offer guidance on complex architectural decisions and their potential impacts on the organization. Develop and maintain architectural policies and standards for the organization.

  • Risk and Compliance Management: Collaborate with risk, compliance, and audit teams to address architecture-related concerns.

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Provide high-level architectural consulting to executive stakeholders and project teams. Foster and develop a deep understanding of the bank's value streams and their technological underpinnings.

  • Continuous Evolution: Drive the continuous evolution of the Enterprise Architecture product function to meet changing business needs and technological advancements.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field

  • 10+ years of experience in IT, with at least 5 years in enterprise architecture roles.

  • Preferably 7 years' experience within Financial Services.

  • Strong understanding of enterprise architecture frameworks (e.g., TOGAF, Zachman).

  • Proven experience managing and mentoring teams.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interface with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Deep knowledge of banking industry trends and challenges.

  • Experience with agile methodologies and product management principles.

  • Certifications in relevant areas (e.g., TOGAF, ITIL, PMP, SAFe) are a plus.

Salary Range:
$130,530 - 221,920 USD

Salary range is a good faith estimate of base pay. Northern Trust provides a comprehensive benefits package including retirement benefits (401k and pension), health and welfare benefits (medical, dental, vision, spending accounts and disability), paid time off, parental and caregiver leave, life & accident insurance, and other voluntary and well-being benefits. Northern Trust also provides a discretionary bonus program that may include an equity component.
