Summary:



Our client, is one of the Midwest's largest fresh pork processing and packaging companies, processes up to 16,500 hogs daily. We are seeking a Production Supervisor for our Rendering department's 3rd Shift operations. This role involves overseeing the rendering process, operating procedures, and working conditions. The Rendering Supervisor is responsible for supervising rendering employees in a processing environment, ensuring daily production and quality targets are met. This position reports to the department Superintendent.

Responsibilities:



  • Lead team members in producing quality products according to company standards.

  • Implement and maintain safety standards as required by law and company policy.

  • Direct and implement job-related training for all team members, ensuring job rotation minimums are met.

  • Use strong communication skills to coach and guide team members, resolving employee issues and ensuring corrective actions are followed.

  • Foster a high-morale workplace with the highest ethical standards, treating all team members with dignity and respect.

  • Manage the completion of production schedules as determined by the superintendent or designee.

  • Ensure adherence to proper processing procedures (quality, safety, etc.) without compromise.

  • Maintain discipline and accountability for team members in pursuit of company and customer goals.

  • Monitor and implement timely improvements to meet production quality and quantity goals.

  • Utilize problem-solving techniques, teamwork strategies, and process control tools to meet or exceed the production schedule.

  • Facilitate workflow management, workforce scheduling, and placement to meet facility and company goals.

  • Conduct and lead process audits to identify and implement corrective and preventive actions, minimizing process deviations and non-conforming products.

  • Ensure team member compliance with company policies, safety standards, and good housekeeping through fair and consistent accountability methods.

  • Collaborate with other supervisors daily to ensure the facility operates efficiently.

  • Assist with pre-operation activities as directed.

  • Perform other duties as needed or required.


Qualifications:



  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.

  • Minimum of 1 year of leadership experience.

  • Mechanical aptitude to direct and delegate correcting mechanical equipment issues.

  • Knowledge of USDA and HACCP procedures.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.

  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.

  • Ability to climb ladders and stairs in extreme heat.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to work in extreme hot, cold, wet, humid, and odorous environments.

  • Flexibility to work various shifts and extensive overtime, including weekends.

  • Good computer literacy and ability to write clear and concise reports.

  • Results-driven and employee-oriented.

  • Commitment to follow safety policies and wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

  • Uphold company policies and ethical standards.

  • Strong leadership and motivational skills.

  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.

  • Willingness to attend classes or training as needed.

  • This position is floor-based and requires standing and walking for long periods. Occasionally, you may need to assist in moving boxes up to 90 lbs.
