The Senior Manager Facilities holds the overall supervisory management responsibility for the global MSD Facilities and leads the Facility managers on these sites in a matrix structure. The role will report to the Director Engineering.


In this role you are responsible to develop facility strategy, define standards and set a norm for all site facility services, plan and implement footprint projects, be responsible for the facilities sustainability roadmap and lead the business continuity for the division. You will define the way in how we run facilities in all sites, consolidate and prioritize CAPEX investments aligned with business needs (sustainability, growth, energy mitigation, etc.). You are the linking pin between division and corporate teams (real estate, sustainability, risk management, EHS etc.)



Responsibilities:




Footprint projects



  • Develops strategic plans for the best utilization of space and resources globally, in line with forecasted growth in volume and headcount.

  • Develops footprint expansion plans and drives these towards leadership decision making and budget approval.

  • Drives footprint projects on time and in budget through the team of project managers. Assists in value engineering assessments and contractor management. Supports project leaders in handling difficulties during the course of the projects.

  • Continues to (co)develop standards on footprint projects.

  • Works closely with the broader Corporate Teams to continually reduce the net facilities cost base across all facilities spend categories.


Business Continuity planning & sustainability



  • Leads the divisional business continuity plans, ensures regular updates and audits of the sites.

  • Drives the facility sustainability roadmap in alignment with corporate and site leadership.


Site facilities oversight



  • Acts as matrix manager for the site facility teams.

  • Ensures standardization and harmonization of processes across teams.

  • Drives optimization of site services (janitorial, site support, property services, risk management and security) set to the latest standards, contractual agreements and corporate requirements.

  • Works with the sites to establish multiyear CAPEX investment plans and maintenance plans according to predefined standards.

  • Ensures that the sites maintain complete equipment, building and infrastructure documentation, including up to date drawings, specifications, operating instructions and maintenance records.

  • Develops and implements effective metrics and functional performance measurement methods.

Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field from an accredited university.

  • 10 years of experience in managing site level Facilities or related projects.

  • Management experience and proven leadership abilities with a strong commitment.

  • Proficient in dispatching work to team members and managing accountability for service delivery.

  • Experienced in managing a site/facility move, expansion or greenfield build from planning to commissioning.

  • Experienced in running large footprint projects (>$10M).

  • Strong strategic management skills, especially in applying systems based approaches to problem solving.

  • Strong communication and leadership skills.

  • Ability to multi-task in a complex environment.

  • Ability to build consensus and oversee tactical execution.

  • Clearly communicates strategy, vision and tactics to team members, both verbally and in writing.
