Pulmonary: Assistant/Associate/Full Professor, Tenure Pathway




The Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine in the Department of Medicine at the University of Vermont Larner College of Medicine invites applications for a tenure track Assistant/Associate/Full Professor with an independent, primarily wet bench-based research program in the area of pulmonary biology. Research areas of particular interest include, but are not limited to, airway biology, immunology, asthma, sepsis and acute lung injury, lung immunity, pulmonary vascular biology, stem cell biology, or lung cancer.


The successful candidate will have a visionary research program that synergizes with existing research programs at the Larner College of Medicine. The faculty member will join a vibrant research community including basic and clinician scientists within the Larner College of Medicine, have opportunities to collaborate with individuals across the University of Vermont campus, and contribute to the research education of graduate students and postdoctoral scholars.


The faculty member's research program will be located in state-of-the-art research space within the Larner College of Medicine. Several core facilities are available at UVM (e.g., microscopy, flow cytometry & cell sorting, genomics/transcriptomics, proteomics, biostatistics, data science, small animal vivarium, and a BSL3 facility) to complement the faculty member's independent research program. Rank will be commensurate with experience; the most competitive applicants will be those with an established independent research program.

The ideal candidate will have a PhD, MD PhD, MD or equivalent doctoral degree, and a track record indicative of having been awarded or on a trajectory to be awarded independent peer-reviewed extramural funding. The candidate will have experience in team science, demonstrated ability to lead a multidisciplinary team, and the potential to develop research partnerships and collaborative relationships with universities, industry, and research laboratories. The successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to work independently, outstanding written and oral communication, strong organizational proficiencies, and a history of effective mentoring.
