The Accounting Manager is a key leadership role supporting the Large Engines business within the Caterpillar Industrial Power Systems Division. This position supports IPSD by providing critical cost and decision support for its Texas Operations and Supply Chain groups. This role will lead a team supporting engine and genset assembly in Seguin, machine shop operations in Schertz and San Antonio, and capital across all three sites.

What You Will Do:

Managing People

  • Supervises primarily management personnel who perform accounting functions of varying complexity including working with selected financial systems, interpreting and adhering to Caterpillar's accounting practices and procedures.
  • Evaluates and reports on staff performance, participates in employee selection, provides career guidance and training direction, complies with personnel practices, and promotes team rewards and successes.
  • Provides technical guidance and expertise.
  • Motivates team members to work towards individual and team goals and objectives, and fosters an environment of teamwork and cooperation.

Managing Expectations
  • Participates in the development and support of business strategies.
  • Communicates effectively within the team and with internal and external customers and data providers, including presentations to all levels of management.
  • Proactively interacts with business partners to develop, understand and manage requirements and expectations.
  • Serves as liaison between customer, team and data providers and manages business partner relationships.
  • Identifies, establishes, prioritizes and communicates goals and objectives of team.
  • Provides services, makes recommendations and manages costs.

Performing Complex Staff Work
  • Provides technical guidance and expertise on business issues of global impact and/or high complexity such as investment analysis, product cost studies, sourcing studies, freight and transportation analysis, financial results analysis, and business partner metrics analysis.
  • Leads initiatives outside team to represent the group (e.g. process improvements, new business requirements).
  • Demonstrates a comprehensive knowledge of Caterpillar's businesses, products, suppliers and customers.
What You Have:
  • Education/Experience : This position typically requires a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
  • Analytical Thinking: Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems.
  • Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
  • Accounting: Knowledge of accounting methods, processes, and tools; ability to maintain and prepare financial statements and reports using accounting methods and processes.
  • Financial Reporting : Knowledge of processes, methods, and tools of financial reporting; ability to create and maintain accurate and thorough financial reports.
Top Candidates Will Also Have:
  • Axiom and Power BI knowledge
  • CMA or CPA
  • MBA or Masters Degree in Accounting (or equivalent)

  • The primary location for this position is Seguin, TX
  • This role is a full time, Hybrid position and currently requires 3 days a week in office
  • Domestic relocation assistance is available for those who qualify

  • International and Domestic travel up to 5%

Summary Pay Range:
$126,000.00 - $189,000.00
Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
