Job Description:





Job purpose



This position will develop and sustain training programs to encompass all areas of the organization by identifying training needs and coordinating resources to provide necessary development opportunities.



Essential Duties and Responsibilities




  • Follow all prescribed safety regulations including the proper use of all required personal protective equipment.
  • Work with departmental managers to develop foundation for required training.
  • Coordinate and conduct orientation sessions and arrange on-the-job training for new hires, this includes assisting contingent or temporary staffing agencies with their orientation programs.
  • Design and develop training and development programs based on both the organization's and the individual's needs.
  • Analyze, review and evaluate processes and systems for user needs.
  • Develop user documentation, training manuals, multimedia visual aids and other educational material in conjunction with internal and external resources.
  • Research/investigate non-traditional training methods and determine if appropriate for use within organization.
  • Confer with management and gather feedback to identify training needs based on projected production processes, changes and other factors.
  • Work with plant managers and local institutions to develop competencies and coursework requirements to maintain or add new apprenticeship or other training opportunities.
  • Evaluate and determine if an internal apprenticeship program would benefit the organization. If determined a benefit, work with educational programs to create the apprenticeship program, implement program, and ensure timely completion and tracking of training.
  • Amend and revise programs as necessary in order to adapt to the changes that occur in the work environment.
  • Identify and apply for grant opportunities to assist in offsetting training costs and work with appropriate cross-functional team members and outside government offices
  • Facilitate training classes as needed.
  • Monitor effectiveness of classes/sessions by developing a standard and effective feedback form and tracking method.
  • Tracks and reports out on Team Member training completion.
  • Develop an annual training plan including input on budgeting for the plan.
  • Maintain electronic and paper training files for all Team Members.
  • Schedule make-up or follow up training sessions as needed.
  • Ensure training resources are used to maximize effectiveness by coordinating schedules, etc.
  • Conduct training classes as needed.
  • Ensure materials are kept in stock for training sessions (i.e. pencils, notepads, sample procedure for building and use of hand tools, etc.).
  • Seek continual improvement in all training efforts (i.e. creating and expanding a learning management system or training university/system).
  • Benchmark against other organizations to keep pulse on local and regional training efforts and opportunities.
  • Meet all physical and environmental requirements.
  • Follow all Environmental Policy and Quality Policy guidelines.
  • Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by management.



Qualifications




Education, Knowledge, and Experience




  • Bachelor's Degree in Education, Communication, Business related field or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years training and development experience



Skills and Abilities




  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and organizational skills. Ability to read and interpret documents. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Database software; Human Resource systems; Internet software; and MS Office applications.
  • Requires the interpersonal skills to interact and collaborate with wide variety of internal personnel.
  • Must be able to interact professionally, appropriately, and courteously with team members, suppliers, and customers.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to coordinate multiple tasks and prioritize duties in an efficient and timely manner. Must be willing and able to complete all required classes assigned through the training matrix.



Travel



10% or less travel required for this position.

Must observe safety procedures and use equipment and materials properly; must wear safety glasses and steel toe boots while in production areas.
