The Events and Operations Supervisor is responsible for the effective coordination and oversight of event setups, snow removal teams, supply deliveries, custodial equipment repairs, and various utility tasks across campus. This role is critical in ensuring that all operations related to events, maintenance, and logistics run smoothly and meet the standards expected by the university. The supervisor will also step into custodial roles as needed to cover for other supervisors, ensuring consistent service delivery.

Key Responsibilities:
Event Management:

  • Oversee the setup, execution, and breakdown of campus events, ensuring that all logistical aspects are managed efficiently.
  • Coordinate with event planners, faculty, and staff to understand event requirements and ensure they are met.
  • Supervise staff assigned to event-related tasks, providing guidance and support as needed.

Utility Work Management:

  • Manage and direct teams responsible for snow removal, ensuring safe and timely clearance of campus walkways and parking areas.
  • Oversee the delivery of supplies across campus, ensuring that all requests are fulfilled promptly and accurately.
  • Coordinate and manage campus moves, including furniture removal and relocation, to ensure minimal disruption to university operations.

Custodial Equipment and Maintenance:

  • Ensure the timely repair and maintenance of custodial equipment, coordinating with repair teams and external vendors as necessary.
  • Maintain an inventory of custodial supplies and equipment, ensuring that all necessary tools and materials are available for staff use.

Supervision and Support:

  • Provide leadership and supervision to staff involved in event setups, utility work and custodial tasks.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all event-related and operational inquiries.
  • Step in to perform custodial duties as required, particularly when covering for other supervisors.

Administrative Duties:

  • Develop and maintain schedules for event setups, snow removal, and other operational tasks.
  • Ensure accurate record-keeping for all tasks, including work orders, inventory management, and equipment repairs.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of departmental policies and procedures


Job Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent (Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred).
  • Minimum of 3 years of professional cleaning or facilities maintenance experience.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective teamwork and stakeholder interaction.
  • Knowledge of custodial practices, equipment maintenance, and safety protocols.
  • Valid Massachusetts Driver's License.
  • Ability to lift 75 lbs, bend, stoop, and twist daily; capable of standing, walking, or sitting for extended periods; able to climb stairs and ladders.
  • Ability to operate a forklift (1C license preferred).
  • Familiarity with power tools for basic repair jobs.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as required.
  • This position is considered essential personnel and will be expected to report during emergency closings and may require occasional overtime.
