What you will do

The Senior Automation Support Engineering is responsible for to provide support and optime automated systems to enhance efficiency and streamline processes for Fort Washington and Lititz Sites in North America. Driving and delivering optimal cost, safety, quality, and compliance for the site manufacturing systems. In close collaboration with the Engineering, Operations, Packaging and site Leadership Team, this position serves as the primary point of contact for end-to-end MAKE Automation Systems from up-front engineering through project delivery as well as ongoing maintenance and Operations support of MAKE at the internal production site

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive automation support strategy aligned with organizational goals and objectives involved with Systems integration, equipment, Automation & Controls Engineering including Information Technology / Operations Technology systems.
  • Standardizes and leverages solutions across sites.
  • Support automation engineers, providing technical expertise and guidance in support and implementing automated solutions. Provide planning for the immediate regional support of Lititz and Fort Washington sites, aligned with the MS&T Global Centers of Excellence (CoE) as well as the Consumer Manufacturing Networks. Identify and lead initiatives to drive execution excellence and timely realization of site and network goals and objectives.
  • Collaborate with local site automation team for cross functional support. Automation support engineers may need to assist local site automation team with project implementation, protocol execution, shutdown planning, etc. while the site automation team may also need to be involved when support issues that require additional troubleshooting expertise.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation, collaborating with cross-functional teams to optimize workflows and enhance overall productivity. Evaluate, select, and integrate automation tools and technologies to meet business requirements, ensuring seamless integration with existing systems.
  • Implement robust monitoring systems to ensure the stability and reliability of automated processes, proactively addressing any issues that may arise.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of automated systems, processes, and workflows, facilitating knowledge transfer within the team.
  • Ensure that automated systems comply with industry standards, regulations, and security protocols, actively participating in audits and assessments.
  • Collaborate with IT teams, developers, and other stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into effective automation solutions.
  • Works in close collaboration with the process scientist team to develop & implement the technical transfer strategy for the site or network.
  • Assistance as needed to the broader NA region for implementation of projects that stretch across the four internal manufacturing sites.
  • Performance & Talent Management:
  • Includes succession planning, mentoring, career development planning and recommending training programs to develop employee skills for present and future needs.
  • Critically evaluates direct reports' performance against goals and objectives as well as leadership and personal performance expectations per company guidelines and review processes.
Engineering:
  • Ensure timely investigations and corrective / preventative action (CAPA) to address Quality, Safety, Reliability, Technical, and Manufacturing issues (Audit Actions, NC's, etc.)
  • Implement new applications or controlled changes to existing applications meeting FDA and cGMP, company compliance requirements.
  • Identification, evaluation, selection, and implementation of third-party systems, equipment, and equipment vendors as well as contract resources; Ensures compliance as needed to global platforms and standards.
Functional, Site & Cluster Strategy:
  • Determine appropriate allocation of staffing managing the process for utilization of contracted staff and services where appropriate. Ensure contracts and agreements are in place to provide an adequate labor pool and works with vendor leadership to manage performance as needed.
  • Able to provide support after regular business hours and on weekends.





What we are looking for

Required Qualifications
  • A minimum of a BS in Engineering Science or Technical field is required
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant business experience
  • Minimum of 6 years people management experience with demonstrated success in performance management and development
  • Specific Engineering and/or Maintenance experience with consumer, OTC, or pharmaceutical industry required
  • Prior experience managing a cost center
  • Proven experience in system automation, with a track record of successful implementations
  • Strong programming skills, custom automation scrips and solution tailored to specific needs
  • In-depth knowledge of automation tools and technologies
  • Leadership experience with the ability to mentor and guide a team
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills
  • Proficient in English Language-writing, speaking and understanding.


Desired Qualifications
  • Advanced degree (Masters) in Engineering or MBA is preferred
  • Professional Engineering Registration is preferred
