Employee Type: Regular Summary: Safely performs welding and mechanical repairs and fabrication on mining equipment. Job Description: Essential Duties: Performs all kinds of welding, brazing, and cutting on any type of metal using gas and electric welding equipment. Welds all metals and understands metal properties. Reads and understands blueprints with the ability to assembly and fabricate parts from them. Operates boom truck, welding truck, forklift, and fixed overhead cranes. Locates and repairs cracks in metal parts and structural members. Performs job duties in accordance with MSHA law and regulations, established company safety procedures and State and Federal environmental regulations. Other Duties: Performs routine repairs. Safely sizes and uses rigging to lift components. Assists mechanics and electricians as needed. Performs other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Must be knowledgeable of all phases of welding, cutting, air arcing, grinding, and understand metal properties. Must possess a knowledge of machine assemblies, bearings, gearing, seal and rebuilding gear trains. Must possess a knowledge and the skill of millwright and pipe fitter procedures. Must have an ability to read blueprints and possess a knowledge of rigging procedures. Must be able to work outside in extreme weather conditions. Must be willing to work shift work and be eager to accept responsibility and challenges. Education, Training and Experience: High school diploma/GED with vocational training or equivalent experience preferred.
