Qualifications



RS&H is actively seeking a Project Director to join our Federal Market team. This position will sit in either Chicago, IL, or San Antonio, TX.

As part of the Federal Market team, you'll play a key role in leading large, complex projects to meet client goals. You’ll define project needs, establish clear requirements, and guide teams through all phases—ensuring quality, budget, and schedule expectations are met. Acting as the primary client contact, you’ll manage contracts, provide regular updates, and address challenges with innovative solutions.

You’ll also mentor team members, foster collaboration, and drive continuous improvements in project delivery. With a focus on client satisfaction and operational excellence, you’ll contribute to securing repeat business and building lasting partnerships.

This role may include managing a small team of direct reports while championing quality and efficiency across every project phase.

To be successful in this role, you must:

  • Have a bachelor's degree in engineering, architecture, or interior design from an accredited program and 15 years of relevant AE experience in the federal market sector, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Have a passion for leading multidiscipline AE design teams and programs in various types of federal projects.
  • Previous experience working in the Defense industry, federal agencies, or military service agencies.
  • Be proficient with Microsoft Office, to include Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Possess strong attention to detail, commitment to follow through, and ability to work independently following general direction and oversight from leadership.
  • Be able to manage and prioritize tasks on multiple projects and initiatives, prioritize workload, set priorities, and manage multiple projects and assignments.
  • Have strong verbal and written communication skills, as well as strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to relate to and understand people in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Possess the ability to build and maintain strong working relationships, demonstrate professional courage, and guide and influence others.
  • A strong sense of personal integrity, responsibility and attention to detail.
  • Be a US Person per client requirement.

Preferred and desirable qualifications:

  • Professional Engineer, Registered Architect or Interior Designer.
  • Be familiar with and understand the DoD Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC) system.
  • PMP certification.
  • Previous experience managing federal contracts and programs.
  • Previous and relevant military experience.
  • Previous and relevant federal civil service experience.
