JOB SUMMARY - To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.


Manufacturing high quality medical devices by operating semi-automated and automated equipment ensuring maximum efficiency with minimal scrap and rework. The primary responsibility is the operation of plastics processing equipment to the specified standards. This position performs diverse operations including plastics processing, equipment set-up, packaging of medical devices reading and interpretation of blue prints, travelers and SOP codes all while ensuring acceptability of product.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Operates a variety of equipment in the plastics processing operation, while achieving quality standards, production plans, department metrics and cost objectives.
  • Works independently to perform machine changeovers, including the successful shutdown and start-up.
  • Must have hands-on knowledge of multi-cavity molds, injection molding machines and auxiliary equipment's.
  • Ensure components meet product specifications and established quality requirements.
  • Makes minor adjustments and performs troubleshooting logic to maintain part specifications and conformity. This is to be accomplished by adhering to all operational guidelines established by SOP/operational codes.
  • Assist in PM and basic ascetics maintenance of assigned machinery.
  • Reads and interprets a broad variety of work schedules, travelers, bill of materials, blue prints and SOP's. (Standard Operating Procedures)
  • Accurately records information on travelers, time tickets, bin tickets, stock issue/returns and other product and process documentation; operates bar coding and other computerized equipment.
  • Sets up work station with necessary equipment and supplies as per job assignment.
  • Load compound into the dryer and make sure the material is dried before production.
  • Participate on continuous improvement projects.
  • Segregate runner from the part collection bins.
  • Maintain a thorough knowledge of all products produced in the department, raw materials required, and product quality specifications.
  • Keep machinery, work area and floors neat, safe and orderly.
  • Utilizes RF device to pick material from warehouse stores accounts, de-boxes and labels material, weight counts material, issues material to a work order and transfers material to manufacturing.
  • Operation of material handling equipment (electronic tablets, label machines, pallet jacks, weigh scales, etc.).
  • Conducts quality inspection of correct part and lot number. Follows procedures to ensure accurate transfers, transactions, and labeling.
  • Participate in Cycle counts and bay audits for inventory management.
  • Performs various receiving duties, including unloading and loading trailers, performing the receiving functions into the MRP system, and the put away of inspected material.
  • Perform various data entry transactions utilizing the Oracle business application system to create a smooth work flow process.
  • Determines and/or follows proper procedures involving a broad range of components which requires one or more of the following: molding, packaging, weight counting, preventative maintenance, and operating equipment per specifications.

    Education and Experience

    • High School/GED Level of Degree in the general field of study
    • Equivalent work related experience acceptable in lieu of degree Yes X No
    • 2-3 years of demonstrated experience in mechanical aptitude
    • N/A Certifications Required
    • Any preferred education, experience or certifications: Experience in running and adjusting plastics processing equipment/machines, Oracle & Agile system
