We are seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Behavioral Health and Safety CNS Team:
The Behavioral Health and Safety Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) supports nursing to safely address patient behaviors that are related to a medical or psychiatric disorder. Operating under the CNS department, the Behavioral Health and Safety team covers inpatient units at the University Hospital (excluding inpatient psychiatry unit) and the American Family Children's Hospital and are available to support the East Madison Hospital in-person and virtually.
The Behavioral Health and Safety CNS can be consulted to provide chart reviews and/or in-person rounding for:
Help with identifying and managing patient behavioral triggers.
Assisting staff with the development of a behavioral care plans.
Support staff with navigating challenging behaviors, such as limit setting, boundaries management, safety awareness, etc.
Support staff with education and/or interventions for the patient's underlying medical and/or psychiatric condition.
Providing activities to help keep a patient engaged and distracted.
Reviewing behavioral incidents to help mitigate workplace violence.
Implement customized evidence-based advanced nursing interventions, including the provision of direct care, to improve nurse-sensitive outcomes.
Act as a clinical expert for specific clinical populations; two years of medical behavioral health experience is strongly preferred.

Qualifications
Master's Degree or doctoral degree in Nursing Required
Master's Degree or doctoral degree (DNP or PhD) with CNS role focus Preferred
Work Experience
2 years of relevant clinical nursing experience Required
3 years of relevant clinical nursing experience Preferred
Previous experience as a clinical nurse specialist Preferred
Experience in an academic medical center Preferred
Licenses & Certifications
Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of Wisconsin or holds a license issued by a jurisdiction that has adopted the nurse licensure compact Required
Current CPR/BLS certification Required
CNS certification Preferred
Certification in specialty area of practice Preferred
