Purpose

This position is project based intern position; with also some ongoing assistance in key financial processes. The position will work full weeks weekly during the summer. During school year; the position has the opportunity to work 2-3 days a week; and range from 15-25 hours based on interns schedule and company needs.

Essential Functions

Projects :


  • Projects related to continuous improvement working with Controller and Operations Director.

Planning/Organizing


  • Costing and Inventory
  • Cycle count auditing and confirmation. Sr. Cost Accountant to assist.
  • Assist Operations in 5S of inventory.
  • Assist in supplier chargebacks. Review NCM; confirm and track chargebacks; facilitate if needed. Sr. Cost Analyst to assist.
  • A/R

  • Assist in weekly billing; invoice generation and distribution as needed.

  • A/P
  • Assist in weekly payment runs.

  • Reconcile Petty cash; with sign off from separate position.

Customer/Vendor Work Relationships


  • Suppliers: Coordinate statement verification of balances for key suppliers
  • Purchasing/Planning : Assist in projects as coordinate with controller and materials manager (such as aged PO review;

Continuous Improvement/Productivity


  • Assist team in updating workplace and desktop instructions
  • Assist team in automating processes and increasing use of e-files and e-processes.
  • Assists Controller with other financial duties as needed.

Accountability

Reports to the Controller. Ensures that all work is done in accordance with Customer specifications and Company Policy. Keeps the Controller aware of all progress and problems.

Physical Requirements

Job requires sitting at a desk doing normal office work, including phone communications and using a computer. Also involves standing and walking in an office and a manufacturing facility.

Environmental / Safety / Time Allocation


  • Spends approximately 85% of time working at a desk in a normal office environment.
  • Spends about 15% of time on work away from desk, including going out into shop and discussing for cycle count auditing and assistance with counts and physical. Must wear eye protection and any other required personal protective equipment while on the shop floor.

Training / Cross Training / Progression

Trains for General accountant position in accordance with the Finance Department Training Program. We will assist in training this individual in areas outside of their job scope to supplement their formal education .

Education / Experience


  • In process AS/BS Degree in Finance, Accounting or a related field with several years to go before graduation. The goal is to have the candidate work 1-3 years part time while completing degree. At least 2 years of experience in related or non-related fields.
