The Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis invites applicants with a background in working with emerging technologies and a track record of delivering prototype solutions in enterprise software environments leveraging cloud technologies, machine learning, and AI.

In this role, you will be leading efforts to deliver functional software prototypes for internal services and solutions within the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis, as well as contributing to innovative solutions using emerging technologies with an impact on the broader Federal Reserve System. You will work with a team of full-stack engineers and business stakeholders to understand requirements and develop technical architectures, and then to implement and iterate on those designs.

An ideal candidate will also have deep experience in modern machine learning & generative AI practices and technologies, and a track record of rapidly delivering customer-delighting MVP solutions to novel business problems.

This is not a remote position. Onsite work is an essential function of this position, and you are expected to be in the office 1 days per week for meetings and team collaboration, unless directed otherwise by your supervisor.

This position is posted at two levels: Principal and/or Advanced Engineer level. The position may be filled at either level. The candidate will be selected based on the goals of the division, the needs of the role and the strength of the candidate pool.

The person in this position is expected to lead prototyping and PoC projects of moderate complexity to prove out cloud-based solutions to emerging business needs, working with business stakeholders to understand requirements, translating those requirements into technical tasks, and then delivering or facilitating the completion of those tasks.

Responsibilities:


  • Work on unique projects and problems with the broadest impact on the business. Champion technology across the district and the greater Federal Reserve System.


  • Choose and implement UI framework and design, designing and implementing APIs, provisioning compute infrastructure and data tier, and working with technology partners to complete integrations with other enterprise systems.


  • Recognized as an expert within the organization and has in-depth expertise in own discipline and broad knowledge of other technical disciplines.


  • Responsible for solving highly technical and complex problems on multiple projects, and for providing consultative support to internal staff.


  • Deliver the “full stack” of solution components on the AWS platform, including choosing and implementing UI and API frameworks, design API contracts and data models, deploy compute and data infrastructure, develop business logic code, implement testing, quality gating, and operational automation as necessary, and using modern CI/CD tooling to deliver solutions to multiple cloud environments.


  • Lead efforts in problem avoidance actions, and perform resolution of complex and critical hardware, environmental software operating systems and subsystems.


  • Provide leadership, mentoring, and technical work direction for other team members in an open, positive, and collaborative manner.


  • Provide cross functional leadership by influencing technology decisions across the district and/or the greater Federal Reserve System.


  • Develop problem resolution for application software and hardware as needed. Conduct research and testing to determine cause and makes necessary corrections.


  • Evaluate, recommend, and select new software/hardware. Review existing system logic and make recommendations to documentation as necessary.


  • Prepare detailed specifications from which applications programs will be written. Analyze and revise existing system logic and documentation as necessary.


  • Work with diverse technologies to design, build (code), test, debug, document, implement and maintain solutions and/or patterns for existing and new systems or hardware within the boundaries of existing standards, processes, or operational plans.


  • Perform change and problem management using standard tools following system change management policies and procedures for software/hardware propagation to other platforms and/or environments. Ensures conformance with existing system capability. Measure performance to ensure proper operation.


  • May authorize high risk level changes and recommend solutions to minimize and/or prevent system interruption.


  • Lead critical and highly technical/complex projects utilizing FRIT, System, or local staff and resources.


  • Follow and ensure adherence to technical standards for programming and design techniques. Train technical staff on use of software /hardware tools in accordance with required standards and procedures.


  • Contribute to development and revision of department standards and procedures.


  • Ensure compliance with internal audit requirements and Information Security Manual guidelines.


Required qualifications for Engineer, Advanced level:


  • Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of nine (9) years of relevant work experience OR


  • Master's degree and a minimum of seven (7) years of relevant work experience OR


  • Associate degree and a minimum of eleven (11) years of relevant work experience


Required qualifications for Engineer, Principal level:


  • Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of twelve (12) years of relevant work experience OR


  • Master's degree and a minimum of ten (10) years of relevant work experience OR


  • Associate degree and a minimum of fourteen (14) years of relevant work experience


Additional Information:

Full Salary range for Engineer Advanced: $121,700- $152,132 - $182,600

Full Salary range for Engineer Principal: $141,300 - $176,626 - $212,000
