Jonah Energy is an oil and gas exploration, and development company headquartered in Denver, Colorado and operating in the Jonah and Pinedale Fields in Sublette County, Wyoming. The company is one of the largest privately held natural gas producers in the US and focuses on producing natural gas in an environmentally responsible manner.

POSITION SUMMARY

This Environmental Health & Safety Technician assists and collaborates with the Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) team with data management, reporting, and general EHS initiatives. Under general supervision, the EHS Technician supports the creation, gathering, maintenance, and integrity of EHS data to ensure accurate records. The EHS Technician supports environmental compliance and air quality reporting to local, state, and federal agencies. The EHS Technician reports to the Vice President – EHS in the Denver office.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Maintain respectful and productive working relationships within and across all work groups, ensuring effective collaboration and cooperation.

  • Support various environmental regulatory reporting programs for, including but not limited to, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Subpart W, EPA OOOO/OOOOa/OOOOb/OOOOc, US Bureau of Land Management (BLM), Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality (WDEQ), WY Oil and Gas Conservation Commission (WOGCC). Other state-specific experience outside Wyoming a plus.
    • Support various elements of annual and monthly compliance reports.

    • Work  with vendors,  contractors and internal stakeholders to gather data for the EPA Subpart W GHGRP–eGGRT annual filing.

    • Help prepare emissions inventories, including annual and winter ozone and drill rig emission inventories.

    • Ensure necessary internal and external databases have accurate equipment and emissions data, including engine-specific and production facility-specific information.

    • Support preparation of well completions notifications and well completions reporting.


  • EHS Database:

    • Collect, organize, and input EHS data into the EHS database from various sources, including but not limited to equipment, incident data, emissions support data and other relevant environmental parameters.

    • Collaborate with field teams to ensure database matches field equipment in use.

    • Work with EHS teams to customize and generate reports and dashboards to monitor key EHS performance indicators.

    • Develop training materials and conduct training sessions for relevant staff to ensure proper use of databases and adherence to established data entry protocols.

  • Assist with Air permit applications:
    • Complete Air Permit Forms within WDEQ’s IMPACT system. Requires collaboration with Air Lead, field staff, matching field facility records to database records for accuracy, and quality review of data. Through training and tools provided, calculate emissions for each emission source category associated with a facility as needed for IMPACT submission.

    • Maintain emissions offset bank information.

    • Review and process agency invoices for payment.

  • Stack testing/engine support: Create, upload, and submit notification cover letters and reports to IMPACT portal with Stack test results as required. Ensure relocation notifications and cover letters are also uploaded and submitted to IMPACT and other relevant databases.

  • Assist Environmental Lead and Field Environmental Coordinator with annual field groundwater sampling efforts. Assist with updating groundwater plans, vendor request for proposals, vendor selection, schedules, owner notifications, report writing, data review and file creation & QC, and data uploads to WOGCC.

  • Work with other departments, e.g., accounting, to support the annual Pollution Control Exemption, with updating spreadsheet to include changes to pollution control equipment from prior year’s submittal, insurance reporting data, etc.

OTHER DUTIES


  • Update/maintain Reporting Calendar for EHS team.

  • Support in-house EHS due diligence efforts as needed to evaluate new investment or asset opportunities, including record review, data research, agency research, rule reviews, and other investigative efforts.

  • Support Denver Safety effort. Organize office-based internal Emergency Action team. Coordinate weekly schedules, assign backups for roles, assist with plan updates and documentation. Coordinate with building training contacts and create in-house training for action team. Coordinate CPR/First Aid Training.

  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned to support the success of the department and company.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS


  • Associate’s degree or equivalent relevant work experience

  • 2-3 years working experience in environmental science, engineering, or equivalent discipline.

  • Previous experience in Oil and Gas Exploration & Production

  • Previous experience in various state-level environmental rules and regulations

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science or related science or equivalent discipline.
