Job Description Summary

Investigates a wide variety of fraud claims while maintaining the confidence of the member; conducts special investigations and provides assistance across the Credit Union; performs research and analysis to protect the Credit Union from loss and exposure.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities


  • Monitors and analyzes fraud claims, including but not limited to; identity theft, check fraud, online banking, credit and debit card disputes.

  • Investigates alleged fraud cases; interviews members to gather information; prepares and obtains necessary documentation; contacts law enforcement; researches history and notates account regarding fraudulent activity.

  • Provides information and assistance to other departments regarding security and fraud related situations; assists branches regarding transactions on fraud associated accounts.

  • Performs research and analysis of returned checks to identify counterfeit items, fraud or other improper activity; maintains reports and databases including, but not limited to; investigations, red flags and restitutions.

  • Stays abreast of all Security and Fraud industry codes and standards, as well as all applicable Local, State and Federal laws and regulations.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

Minimum Qualifications

Experience Requirement

2 Years - Fraud Investigation Experience - Required

  • Effectively apply internal and external customer service practices and processes to meet quality service standards and achieve member satisfaction.

  • Learn and apply information, on a wide range of Credit Union products, services and regulatory compliance requirements, in order to assess member situations and develop solutions.

  • Provide guidance in the resolution of problems utilizing knowledge and experience within areas of responsibility.

  • Use logic, reasoning and mathematical skills to solve practical problems and make sound decisions.

  • Communicate in a professional manner and deliver information clearly and effectively. Actively listen to questions, opinions and ideas of others. Use tact and diplomacy in sensitive and confidential situations.

  • Use correct English including spelling, grammar and punctuation.

  • Operate computers and use business software and other standard office equipment.

  • Understand and follow written and oral instructions.

  • Set priorities and manage one’s own time effectively. Efficiently handles changing deadlines and multiple concurrent tasks.
