Job Description:

Are you a passionate structural engineer looking to make an impact in the field of civil infrastructure? Our Bellevue Design Center is looking for a Senior Structural Engineer to join our multidisciplinary team that specializes in innovative engineering solutions for inland navigation structures, waterfront facilities, dams, hydropower projects, bridges, flood risk reduction, and fish passage structures. This role offers the chance to work alongside industry leaders and local experts, tackling projects that shape the future of critical infrastructure. Current and upcoming projects include:

New Lock Final Design: Tetra Tech is designing a new 1200' navigation lock to be part of the U.S. Inland Waterway Navigation System. Work will include designing lock walls, guide walls and hydraulic gates. At a second new 1200' lock project, Tetra Tech is developing design criteria, developing construction methodologies, and designing upstream and downstream guide walls.

Dam and Reservoir Design: Tetra Tech is currently performing the 30% design for a new reservoir and four new dams in Colorado. The structural design will include preliminary design for two concrete dams, spillways, stilling basins, outlet works, and inlet works.

Spillway Design: Our team is designing a new dam spillway capable of passing both floods while accommodating downstream fish passage.

As a Senior Structural Engineer at Tetra Tech, your primary focus will be to:


  • Design and analyze civil works structures such as navigation locks, floodwalls, dam components, bridges, and pump stations, ensuring compliance with project-specific and code requirements.
  • Utilize advanced tools, including finite element and seismic analysis, to deliver high quality structural solutions.
  • Oversee the development of calculations, specifications, and design plans while performing quality control checks to ensure accuracy and reliability.
  • Mentor and guide junior staff, fostering their professional growth and supporting their technical expertise.
  • Lead complex assignments that require innovative problem solving and the application of advanced engineering techniques.
  • Respond to shop drawings, RFIs, and other construction phase inquiries to maintain alignment between design and execution.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, clients, and other project stakeholders to present design solutions, review progress, and deliver exceptional results.
  • Assist in project planning, cost estimating, and proposal development, contributing to business growth and project success.

To be a successful Senior Structural Engineer in this role, you'll need to have:


  • A bachelor's degree in civil or structural engineering (a master's degree is preferred).
  • 10+ years of relevant structural engineering experience, including leadership in complex projects.
  • PE certification (SE licensure is preferred.)
  • Expertise in structural design methods, codes, and standards, with a focus on concrete and steel design.
  • Proficiency in industry standard tools such as SAP2000, SAFE, LPILE, GROUP, and 3D FEA software like ANSYS.
  • Strong familiarity with BIM/CAD platforms, including AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Excellent analytical, written, and verbal communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to produce clear and concise reports and presentations.
  • A proactive and adaptable approach to both independent and team-based work environments, both in-person and virtual.

We offer a competitive salary for this position, with a range of $125,000-$180,000, determined based on your education, qualifications, and professional experience.
