Job Overview: The Senior Manager of Live Production is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of live poultry production operations, including breeder management, hatchery operations, and grow-out farms. This role ensures the achievement of production targets, optimal bird health, compliance with regulatory standards, and adherence to company policies. The Senior Manager serves as a key liaison between live production teams, corporate leadership, and external stakeholders.



Responsibilities:




Operational Oversight:



  • Lead and manage all facets of live poultry production, including breeder farms, hatcheries, and grow-out operations.

  • Develop and implement production strategies to meet quality, quantity, and efficiency targets.

  • Monitor and optimize key performance indicators (KPIs), including feed conversion, mortality rates, and livability.


Team Leadership:



  • Supervise and provide direction to managers and supervisors in live production operations.

  • Recruit, train, and develop team members to build a high-performing production workforce.

  • Foster a culture of teamwork, safety, and accountability throughout the live production team.


Compliance and Standards:



  • Ensure compliance with all animal welfare standards, biosecurity protocols, and regulatory requirements.

  • Monitor adherence to environmental regulations and implement sustainable farming practices.

  • Maintain strict compliance with company policies and industry standards to guarantee product quality and safety.


Budget Management:



  • Develop and manage the live production budget, ensuring cost-effective operations.

  • Monitor expenses and resource allocation to optimize financial performance while maintaining production goals.


Problem-Solving and Decision-Making:



  • Identify and resolve production challenges, including disease outbreaks, equipment failures, and supply chain issues.

  • Use data-driven analysis to implement improvements in production processes.


Collaboration and Communication:



  • Act as the primary point of contact for live production operations with corporate leadership, customers, and vendors.

  • Collaborate with feed mills, transportation teams, and processing facilities to ensure smooth operations and timely delivery of live birds.

  • Communicate production updates and strategies to senior leadership and other stakeholders.


Continuous Improvement:



  • Drive innovation and efficiency improvements in live production practices.

  • Stay informed about industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to maintain a competitive edge.


Risk Management:



  • Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies to address potential biosecurity, environmental, and operational risks.

  • Prepare contingency plans for adverse events, such as disease outbreaks or extreme weather conditions.


Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in Animal Science, Agriculture, Poultry Science, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.

  • Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in live poultry production, with a proven track record of leadership. Broiler, Breeder, Hatchery, and Feedmill experience.

  • Strong knowledge of poultry production systems, biosecurity, and animal welfare practices.

  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and decision-making skills.

  • Proficiency in data analysis, reporting, and production management software.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with diverse teams and stakeholders.

  • Willingness to travel to production sites and work flexible hours as needed.


Preferred Skills:



  • Experience with large-scale poultry operations and integration systems.

  • Knowledge of environmental and regulatory compliance specific to live production.

  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing or continuous improvement methodologies.


Physical Requirements:



  • Ability to work in varied environmental conditions, including farm and hatchery settings.

  • Capability to handle physical demands such as walking, standing, and lifting objects up to 50 pounds.
